She currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing Science, University of Malaya, and is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise in patient safety, infection control, nutrition support therapy, and oncology nursing. She holds a PhD in Hospital Quality Management (Patient Safety) from the University of Malaya and has advanced qualifications in oncology nursing and healthcare management. She also served as Coordinator in the Quality Department at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for over three years, where she led initiatives in clinical governance, patient safety, and healthcare quality improvement. Her areas of expertise include Continuous Quality Improvement, Clinical Risk Management, and Patient Safety. She received formal training as a Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) trainer from Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, Johns Hopkins Medicine. Throughout her career, Dr. Karthikayini has held progressive leadership roles in nursing—from front-line clinical care to senior hospital administration—across a wide range of specialties including general surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, burns and plastic, cardiothoracic, oncology, psychiatry, general medicine, hematology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, and pediatrics. She contributed to the development of in-house electronic medical record (EMR) systems at UMMC, including modules for the National Early Warning Score (NEWS), fall prevention, delirium assessment, and a House Officer Dashboard System. A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Karthikayini is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education. She has delivered keynote addresses and lectures at numerous national and international conferences, and has facilitated professional development workshops on patient safety, clinical nutrition, and falls prevention. Her research focuses on patient safety culture, fall prevention, medication safety in older adults, and interprofessional collaboration. She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Age and Ageing, International Journal of Clinical Practice, and Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness. Dr. Karthikayini has received multiple accolades, including the Venus International Award for Excellence in Oncology Nursing, UMMC Excellence Service Awards, and recognition for her leadership in quality improvement, both locally and internationally. She is a registered member of the Nursing Board of Malaysia, a life member of the Malaysian Nurses Association, and a committee member of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) focusing on patient safety (research and training). With a steadfast commitment to advancing nursing practice and strengthening healthcare systems, Dr. Karthikayini continues to lead transformative initiatives to improve patient care and clinical outcomes in Malaysia and beyond.

PROF. DR. ILHAAMIE BINTI ABDUL GHANI AZMI

    Professor Dr Ilhaamie is serving at the Department of Syariah and Management, Academy of Islamic Studies, University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.  She is currently the Editor in Chief for Online Journal of Islamic Management and Finance (OJIMF). She obtained her PhD at USM, MBA from UKM and BBA, IIUM.  Her current research interests are human resource management, entrepreneurship, service quality and Islamic management.  To date, she has authored and co-authored books, book chapters, journal, newspaper articles and conference papers. She has presented her papers in UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Turkey, Cambodia, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Spain, Italy and UK. Four of her papers have won best paper award at the international conferences. She also had been a key note speaker for two international conferences at Singapore and Malaysia. Her research teams also won diamond, silver and bronze medals in research poster competitions locally and internationally. Furthermore, she was awarded as Visiting Professor at Universitas Muhammadiyah, Yogyakarta in 2024, Visiting Fellow at University of Wollongong, Australia and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan in 2013 and Visiting Scholar at International Islamic University Malaysia in 2019. Due to her excellent work service, she was bestowed with Excellence Service Awards in 2003, 2010 and 2018 respectively, and a Certificate of Excellence Service from University of Malaya in 2011.  Due to her passion in research, she is registered with Global Agency Research, International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology for life time member, Migration Research Center as an associate member and Islamic Management Center as Head of researchers.  On top of that, she was appointed as a panel reviewer/assessor for research grants, university education programs, international conferences, books, theses, article journals and promotion applications locally such as MQA and internationally such as OECD.  She also served as the Head of Department that she affiliated with from 2002 to 2003 and 2008 till 2011, PhD programme Coordinator from 2014 till 2016 and Head of Unit of Leadership and Wellbeing, ADeC from 2021 to 2022 where she organized webinars and 4 national conferences relating to moderation, Islamic entrepreneurship, Islamic finance and Muslim intellectuals.  Prior to that, she was the External Relation Coordinator in 2001. She also had trained government officers pertaining to moderation leadership in 2018 at INTAN. She was also a consultant for Ministry of Human Resource in 2024. Due to her passion in human resource management, she is registered as Associate Member at Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management and Majlis Profesor Negara.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. JACOB JOHN A/L CHIREMEL CHANDY

Associate Professor Dr Jacob John completed his basic dental training in 1994 and subsequently qualified as a Prosthodontist in 1997 and has always been active in the field of oral health care. In 2023, he also qualified as a Master in Medical Education from Universiti Malaya. He had served as a Lecturer at the Tamil Nādu Dr MGR Medical University, India and as a Dental Officer in the Ministry of Health, Malaysia before joining as an academic at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2009. He also holds an appointment as an Honorary lecturer at a few dental institutions in India.  Over the past 14 years, Dr Jacob has actively supervised and guided students pursuing their Masters in Prosthodontics (MClinDEnt), Masters in Dental Sciences, Masters in Oral Sciences and at the doctoral level besides the many undergraduate dental students. He is a Life Member of the Indian Prosthodontic Society, founding Secretary of the Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics and currently the Honorary Secretary of the Asian Academy of Prosthodontics. He has been an active member of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health since 2011 and was recently conferred its Fellowship for his “sustained high level of iADH activity and clinical care for the people with disability, alongside research, pedagogy, advocacy and service in the area of Special Care Dentistry”.  Dr Jacob also works very closely with the Special Olympics Malaysia, as its Clinical Director for Special Smiles, by providing oral health education and care for its intellectually disabled members. As part of his academic career, Dr Jacob has been actively involved in the field of research, collaborating within Malaysia and globally. Besides Prosthodontics, his special interest lies in the areas of Geriatric Dentistry and Dental Education. He is appointed as an Academic Board member of the Federation of Special Care Dentistry, India and as a Board Member of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. He has to his credit over 50 peer reviewed, international publications as scientific articles and book chapters with an H-Index of 15 and over 1800 citations in Google Scholar.  Dr Jacob is very passionate about Community Outreach activities and he was the first recipient of the prestigious Jan Andersson-Norinder Award by the IADH in 2016 in recognition of his work among people with special needs and the under privileged. Over the years, he has also presented his work at numerous national and international conferences.
