Dr. Noorhidayah is a dental lecturer and paediatric dental specialist at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She obtained her first degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Universiti Malaya in 2010. She then served the Ministry of Health, Malaysia for five years as a dental officer in various urban and rural areas of Selangor. Afterward, she joined Universiti Malaya as a trainee lecturer in 2015 and pursed her specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry in University of Leeds, United Kingdom. She was awarded with a degree of Doctor in Paediatric Dentistry in 2019. Her career in dental education and as a clinical lecturer begins soon after. She has presented multiple case reports and research projects in international conferences since then. Currently, she is also trained in Behavioral Hypnotherapy and a member of various national and international associations related to Paediatric Dentistry and Hypnotherapy.
show more »Rozie Sarip, originally from Shah Alam, Selangor, completed her BSc in 2004 and MSc in 2007 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She earned her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 2012 from University College London, working with Dr. Graeme Hogarth FRSC and Prof. Gopinathan Sankar FRSC. Rozie began her career at SIRIM Bhd. as an Associate Researcher in August 2006 before becoming a Research Officer at the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in Kuala Lumpur. After completing her PhD, she returned to IMR for another year and then joined the University of Malaya (UM) as a lecturer on March 10, 2014. She is a member of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institut Kimia Malaysia. Her research focuses on: - Binuclear and cluster chemistry - Homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis - Synthesis of phosphines and diphosphines stabilized clusters - Synthesis of thiazoline derivatives Rozie's group studies the chemistry of transition metals, emphasizing the synthesis of new transition metal complexes using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. Their research includes designing new ligands and developing nanomaterials, with applications in catalysis and bio-inorganic fields, such as drug delivery systems and anti-cancer treatments. They collaborate widely with various local and international partners. Clusters, which contain three or more metal ions, are central to her research, particularly low-valent compounds that exhibit unique properties when combining different metal ions. Their work aims to leverage these compounds as precursors for metal nanoparticles, with a recent achievement in synthesizing small gold nanoparticles from gold-phosphine clusters. They also study the interface between large clusters and small nanoparticles to gain insights into their properties.
show more »Associate Professor Dr Ashril Yusof holds a Bachelor of Science and Medical degree from St Andrews University in Scotland, which he completed in 1992. He further pursued his academic journey by obtaining a Masters in Sport and Exercise Science (Health Science) from the University of Essex in England in 1997. In 2006, he successfully completed his PhD in Sports Science, specializing in Biochemistry and Physiology, at the University of Essex. His doctoral research focused on investigating exercise-induced oxidative stress in erythrocytes. Currently, Dr Ashril Yusof serves as a senior member of the academic staff at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science at Universiti Malaya. He brings with him extensive experience and knowledge gained during his tenure as a member of the National Sports Medicine Institute in the United Kingdom from 1996 to 2006. Additionally, he actively participates as a member of the Malaysian Association of Sports Medicine (life member) and the Malaysian Strength and Conditioning Association (since 2016). He is also an associate chief editor for Frontiers in Physiology. Dr Ashril’s research interests span a wide range of areas within exercise and sport science, as well as clinical studies. His primary focus lies in exploring metabolic changes and biochemical events occurring during severe endurance exercise. Specifically, he examines the regulation of circulatory oxidative enzymes and the senescence of erythrocytes during prolonged exercise. His research also delves into the potential manipulation of protective effects through the use of natural supplements and blood concentrates. Within his current research endeavours, Dr Ashril Yusof explores various topics, including the association between nutrition, appetite regulation, and neuromuscular fatigue. He also investigates skeletal muscle damage and healing, the impact of natural products on performance, as well as studies related to soccer or football. Moreover, he is actively involved in clinical studies concerning osteoarthritis and laser therapy, as well as obesity and postural abnormalities among school children. Dr Ashril Yusof's extensive academic background and diverse research interests position him as a valuable contributor to the fields of exercise and sport science, as well as clinical studies, furthering our understanding of human performance and health.
