Dr. Seuk Wai PHOONG is an Associate Professor in the Department of Decision Science, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She is a member of the Malaysian Mathematical Science Society (PERSAMA). Her research interests include applied statistics, econometrics, time series analysis, bibliometric analysis, and education. She has led 8 research projects out of 24 research grants. She has published papers in various WoS and Scopus journals, such as Sage Open, Artificial Intelligence Review, Humanities and Social Science, Mathematics, International Journal of Mobile Communications, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Energies, Symmetry, Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, etc. She is also an academic editor for several journals, including PLOS One, Asian Journal of Business and Accounting, and SAGE Open. She teaches Business Statistics and Quantitative Analysis for Business at the undergraduate level; Research Methodology, Statistical Analysis, and Operational Research at the postgraduate level.
show more »Dr. Yong Adilah Binti Shamsul Harumain, a senior lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Built Environment, University Malaya, is an expert in transportation planning and mobility, with her expertise rooted in extensive research and international collaborations with Indonesia, Japan, and Korea. Currently serving as the Coordinator of the Dual PhD Program, she was previously the Coordinator for the Master's by Research program in 2022. She has been actively involved in various capacities, including as a member of the JK Penasihat MRT Universiti Malaya, the task force for the Faculty's QS WUR rankings, and now as the Deputy Head of Centre of Sustainable Planning and Real Estate (Centre of Research) and the Deputy Head Protem for the Smart Mobility Centre of Excellence at UM. Dr. Yong supervises ten PhD students focusing on topics such as transportation, women’s mobility, safe city initiatives, urban design, and urban planning. Recently appointed to the hearing committee for the Kuala Lumpur Draft Local Plan (PTKL 2040) by the Ministry of Federal Territories and DBKL, her contributions through research and cross-border partnerships continue to influence sustainable urban development and policy innovation. Dr. Yong Adilah Binti Shamsul Harumain stands out as a curious and innovative researcher and academic leader in urban and transportation planning aligned with the UM tagline, Home of the Bright, Land of the Brave. She and her team were the first to explore the Machinoeki (Hentian Komuniti) concept in Taiping, Malaysia, earning her the prestigious Sumitomo Foundation Research Grant twice, in 2016 and on Safe City for Children in the year 2021. Dr. Adilah's dedication to impactful research is further evidenced by her AHRC Research Networking UKRI grant in 2018, which facilitated international collaboration with Coventry University (UK), the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign), and DesignPAK (Pakistan) on addressing barriers to women's mobility. Dr. Adilah actively bridges research and practice, integrating her findings into undergraduate teaching to enhance relevance and engagement. She collaborates closely with the Parliament Member of Lembah Pantai to empower local communities and has worked with the Ministry of Federal Territories on critical urban issues, including flood mitigation. Her expertise has also led to involvement in numerous prestigious grants, including UMCARES Community-Related Grants, Fundamental Research Grants (FRGS), and the Integrated Research Grant (IIRG) alongside the Faculties of Engineering and Medicine at the University of Malaya on active transportation research. Her recent accolades include the SATU grant, fostering collaboration with National Cheng Kung University, IIT Roorkee, and Universiti Sains Malaysia, as well as the AUA Scholars Grant Award (2020/2021), supporting her research on women's mobility with Universitas Indonesia. She contributes to academia through editorial roles, such as the Editor for Universitas Indonesia’s in-house journal, and serves as a reviewer and scientific committee member for various international platforms. Dr. Adilah is a dynamic contributor to professional networks, including the APRU Children and Youth Working Group, the APWiL Mentorship Programme, and the Women Leadership Foundation. She is also a graduate member of the Malaysian Institute of Planners and the Board of Town Planning Malaysia, a member of the Transportation Science Society Malaysia, and an affiliate of heritage-focused organisations such as the UM Cultural Heritage Research Centre and the Perak Heritage Society. show more »Associate Professor Ir. Dr. TING Hua Nong obtained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degree from University of Technology Malaysia, Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer of Engineering Council, UK and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is a Professional Engineer (Ir) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. He is a Visiting Professor at Jining Medical University, Shandong Province, China. He has active research collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University and Jining Medical University. His research expertise and areas of research are speech analysis and processing and recognition, image processing and recognition, Artificial Intelligence, deep learning, and dielectric measurement with specific AI application in cancer research, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory diseases. He has completed supervision of 7 PhD students, 3 Master students by research and 19 Master students by coursework. Currently, he is supervising 8 PhD students and 4 Master students. He has published more than 30 ISI-indexed and Scopus-indexed journal articles and 30 conference proceedings. His articles appear in high impact factor journals such as Expert Systems with Applications, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, IEEE Access, Journal of Cancer and Journal of Voice. He has obtained several internal research grants of University of Malaya such as Short-Term Grant (PGP), University of Malaya Research Grant (UMRG), Research University (RU) grant and external research grants such as Science fund, UKM internal grant with a total of more than RM 1.35 million. He was involved as the technical programme committee and organizing committee in more than 25 national and international conferences. He has been an invited speaker for a few international conferences in China and Taiwan. He was actively involved as reviewer for more than 15 journals and 110 conferences, internal and external research grant proposals and postgraduate theses. He was a member of the Publicity Committee for International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) in 2018-2022. He was member of the Asia Pacific Working Group, IFMBE in 2015-2018. He was a recipient of the IFBME Asia Pacific Research Networking Fellowship in 2012. Currently, he is collaborating with academicians from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Guangxi Medical University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
