Professor Dr. See Mee-Hoong is an esteemed senior lecturer at the University of Malaya and a dedicated Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC). Graduating with her undergraduate medical degree from UPM in 2003, she continued her academic excellence by earning her Master's Degree in Surgery (General Surgery) from the University of Malaya in May 2011 and obtained her fellowship in Breast Oncoplastic training from 2012 to 2015 in Universiti Malaya and Mahidol University, Thailand. Currently, she is nationally registered as a Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon. Her commitment to medical education and clinical practice led her to join the University Malaya Medical Faculty in 2012, where she specialized as a clinical lecturer focusing on Breast Oncoplastic Surgery. Dr. See further honed her skills as an honorary fellow at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2013, and later completed advanced training in minimally invasive techniques and Cryoablation at Kameda Medical Centre under Dr. Eisuke Fukuma in 2016. In 2022, Dr. See underwent robotic breast surgery training at Chang Hua Christian Medical Centre, Taichung, Taiwan. She has since pioneered minimally invasive breast surgeries at UMMC, offering patients the benefits of early recovery, smaller scars, better aesthetic outcomes, and comparable oncological results. She has also been elected as a council member of Breast Surgical International in 2024, marking significant milestones in her leadership and expertise. She is set to introduce robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy and immediate reconstruction at UMMC in 2025. Dr. See serves as the clinical head of the Breast Surgery Unit at UMMC (currently know as Breast and Endocrine Unit), where she leads a team committed to providing high-quality care to patients. Her research interests span Clinical Breast Surgical Oncology, including minimally invasive breast surgeries and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) in Breast Reconstruction. She has also led the development of Decision Aids in Breast Reconstruction and is actively involved in clinical trials focused on breast cancer treatments, including Minimally Invasive and Oncoplastic Surgery and Intraoperative Radiotherapy (TARGIT B Trial). A driving force in Dr. See's work is her passion for uniting Southeast Asian and Asian breast surgeons through knowledge sharing and collaboration. She spearheads this effort through the Asian Breast Surgery Forum (ABSF - an ECHO Project), which she leads in collaboration with the University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO®. The forum connects 12 Asian countries, fostering the exchange of expertise and best practices in breast surgery. Dr. See is actively involved in various international surgical organizations, including the International Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (IOPBS) and the International Endoscopic and Robotic Breast Surgery (IERBS) societies, contributing to the global advancement of breast surgical practices. Currently, Dr. See serves as the deputy Head of Visibility Unit in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya. show more »Professor Dr. Loh Sau Cheong received her Bachelor degree in Special Education (learning disabilities); and both Masters and Ph.D in Educational Psychology. Currently, she is a Full Professor and was the Head of Department for the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya from 1 August 2017 - 31 August 2021, and she was an Adjunct Professor for Asia e University (AeU) from 27 November 2020 - 26 November 2022, Visiting Professor for Universitas Negeri Malang from 1 February to 31 May 2023 as well as Adjunct Professor for Universitas Negeri Malang from 2024 - 2027. Prof. Loh’s research interests include teacher self-efficacy, student self-concept, attribution retraining, attention development, motivation in learning, individualized education plan, assistive technology, and transitional plan for individuals with special needs. She had engaged in 30 researches and had filed 3 patents, 21 copyrights, and 1 trademark. Much of Prof. Loh's researches draw on, and is inspired by, the principle of Education For All and quality inclusive education for individuals with special needs from pre-school education to post-secondary education. Prof. Loh had received the Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang Yang Amat Di Mulia Peringkat Ketiga - Setia Ahmad Shah Pahang (SAP) award from His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang in 2017. In addition, she had received 7 international awards, 11 national awards and 18 university awards. Among them are: UM Excellence Award (Excellent Lecturer) 2016, UM Excellence Award (Teaching Category) 2013, SEAMEO-Jasper Research Award 2010, Fulbright Scholar Award 2010, Fulbright Occasional Lecture Fund Award 2010, Excellent Service Award (2005, 2008), Excellent Certificate Award (2004, 2007, 2012, 2014, 2018), Malaysia Top 20 Authors for 2009, 2011 & 2012 under the Malaysian Abstracting and Indexing System and she is also listed in the worldwide AcademicKeys Who's Who in Higher Education as well as listed in the Encyclopaedia of Successful People in Malaysia for 2023 Edition. Prof. Loh participated actively in research expos where she has received 6 Gold, 7 Silver and 9 Bronze medals. She had published 63 articles (19 ISI, 6 Scopus, 40 refereed journal), 19 articles in conference proceeding, 7 books, 8 chapters in book and had conducted 77 presentations either as keynote speaker, invited speaker, workshop presenter, poster presenter, and conference paper presenter at international and national conferences. Prof. Loh is the Deputy President and active Life Member for the National Association of Special Education, Malaysia since 2009, members of Fulbright Alumni Association of Malaysia, International Association of Special Education (IASE) and International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). Currently, she is a Panel Assessor for Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) (2010 - present) for the disciplines of special education, education for children with disabilities and educational psychology, Article Reviewer for Interactive Learning Environments (ISI Journal), Editorial Consultant of Australiasian Journal of Special Education, Editorial Board of Journal of Special Needs Education, Article Reviewer for Pertanika Journal of Social Science and Humanities (Scopus Journal). She was Honorary Consultant and Special Education Expert for Combined Cleft Lip and/or Palate Clinic, Dentistry Faculty, University of Malaya (2006-2014). She has been appointed as External Examiner for PhD candidates from University of Sydney, University of Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Putra Malaysia and SEGi University. She is also Industry Expert Advisor for New Era University College, Tunku Abdul Rahman Management and Technology University, Quest International University, HELP University, as well as External Examiner for promotion to Professor and Associate Professor for few Malaysian universities. Her contribution to the community includes workshop deliveries, train of trainers for special educators and volunteers, jury for creativity competition, and conduct Holiday Camps for adolescents with special needs. She had supervised till completion 19 Ph.D students (Thesis), 42 Master’s students (Dissertation), 57 Master’s students (Project) and 5 Bachelor Degree students. Currently, she supervises 18 Ph.D (Thesis) students, 15 Master’s students with Dissertation, and 37 Master's students with Research Project. She teaches average 3 courses per semester and assumes various administrative roles at the faculty.
show more »Danny Wong Tze Ken is Professor of History at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya where he teaches history of Southeast Asia and History of China. His research interests include the Chinese in Malaysia, China’s relations with Southeast Asia and History of Sabah. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. He was Director of Global Planning & Strategy Centre, Universiti Malaya and former Director of the Institute of China Studies and former Head of the Malaysian Chinese Research Centre at the same university. He was Visiting Professor at Peking University (2018). He was also Visiting Yip (China) Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge University (2017-2018); Visiting Scholar at the Hakka College, National Central University, Taiwan (2017); and Visiting Professor at the Center for Integrated Area Studies, Kyoto University (2010). Professor Wong is a Member of the Board of Governors, Chinese Heritage Centre, Singapore and Council Member of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society Member of the Board of Trustees, SEASREP Foundation, and a former Chairman of the UNESCO Southeast Asian Shared-History Textbook Technical Committee.
