Amy Then is a senior lecturer at the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Malaya. She obtained her Ph.D. in Fisheries Science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, USA in 2014. Amy’s research interests are highly diverse and focused on animal- environment-human interactions to inform meaningful, data-driven conservation and management efforts in the coastal and marine realms. Currently, she is working on broad topics of mangrove ecology, restoration and ecosystem services assessment, shark and ray fishery assessment, marine megafauna bycatch and linkages between marine protected area and the well-being of both ecosystems and humans. She co-developed a number of successfully funded local and international proposals that were highly interdisciplinary in the last six years with funding from the Global Challenges Research Fund, Newton Fund, and British Council. To successfully deliver these projects, she had been actively using multiple science and social science approaches and with relevant stakeholder engagements at varying levels. In addition to scientific contributions in high-impact journals that included Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, and Ecosystems, she also has diverse experiences in organizing international meetings, including the Third International Symposium on Mangroves as Fish Habitat (MAFH3).
show more »Dr. Firdaus Hariri is a Professor and senior consultant in oral maxillofacial surgery at University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry Universiti Malaya and University of Malaya Specialist Centre. He obtained both his dental and medical degrees from Universiti Malaya (UM) and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training with distinction at Queen Mary Hospital and Prince Philip Dental Hospital, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He later had his craniofacial attachments at various established craniofacial centres abroad and also obtained his Master of Science in Molecular Medicine from International Medical University (IMU). In addition to routine maxillofacial surgical practices such as orthognathic surgery, trauma and oral implantology, his subspecialty and research interests are focused on pediatric craniofacial and reconstructive surgery, tissue engineering in particular distraction osteogenesis technique, bone regeneration for oral rehabilitation and the field of neurotrauma. He has more than 60 academic publications and is actively involved in national and international scientific conferences, consultations and organizations. He is one of the founding members and currently the lead coordinator for the multidisciplinary craniofacial clinic in UMMC, the team leader for Oro-Craniomaxillofacial Research and Surgical (OCReS) group at the Faculty of Dentistry UM, subspecialty coordinator for the Fellowship in Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Surgery UM, and serves as the chairman of National Dental Specialty Education Committee (DentSEdC) for oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is also the guest editor for BMC Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as in the editorial board of Malaysian Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is passionate in music, social enterprise and humanitarian activities. Among the significant contributions in these areas are the success of Voices of Hope Charity Concert, collaboration with University of Malaya Industry and Community Engagement (ICE) office for the social enterprise initiative among single parents in marginalized community and successfully initiating the nation-wide aerosol box fabrication and distribution during COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Dr. Mohd Salleh Aman completed a BA (Hons) degree in Geography and a Master of Education degree in Health, Physical Education and Sport, University of Malaya. Professor Dr. Mohd Salleh Aman has had 8 completed PhD and 2 master students under his supervision. He is also currently supervising 8 PhD and 3 masters which are ongoing. The research field under Profesor Dr. Mohd Salleh’s supervison includes leisure, recreation, sport management, sport education, sport tourism, safety in sport, sport history, sport media and coaching management. He is an active researcher, consistently involved in international conference and published writing works in the form of abstracts, proceedings, modules and text books. Profesor Dr. Mohd Salleh who is an expert in sport and recreation management has been recognized by several universities which appointed him as consultant, advisor and external examiner for their sports science program including the Open University Malaysia, Industrial University Selangor, University Malaysia Sabah, Defence University of Malaysia, Education University of Indonesia and as a visiting professor at the Management Science University, State University of Jakarta, State University of Yogyakarta and Universitas Nasional, Jakarta, Indonesia. Profesor Dr. Mohd Salleh Aman has a broad working experiences, administration and professional. He is holding the post as Headmaster of 7th Residential College as well as Associate Professor in Sport Management at Sport Centre, University of Malaya since 2007. He holding the post as Director of Sport Centre, University of Malaya, 2011-2015. He designated as the principal investigator for several research projects with Institute of Youth Research, Ministry of Youth and Sport Malaysia (IYRES), UMRG; Penyelidik Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan 2020, Unit Sukan, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia; Pusat Kajian Kecemerlangan Melayu (PKKM-UM), FELCRA FC and working research collaborators from Indonesia, Singapore, UK, China and Japan. His professional competency is shown as a Professional Tennis Coach and was the National Tennis Coach for Malaysia School Sport Council in 1992 and 1995. He is an International Qualified Tennis Umpire / Referee (White Badge Bearer), and also expert in sports event management and recreational outdoor leadership. He play golf, reading, writing and travelling for his free time activities.
