Dr. Aslina Pahrudin Arrozi obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2013, followed by a Master's in Medical Science (Biochemistry) from the same university in 2018. Her dedication to expanding her knowledge led her to pursue studies in Japan under the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan. She successfully completed her PhD in Medical Science from Shiga University of Medical Science (SUMS), Japan, in 2022. Following this, she served as an assistant professor at the Molecular Neuroscience Research Center and Medical Innovation Research Center, SUMS, until September 2023 before joining Universiti Malaya as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Molecular Medicine in November of the same year. Her research interest is molecular and cellular neuroscience. Previously, she investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's. Her research also explored how natural products can modulate molecular changes in the brain affected by neurodegenerative conditions. She aims to integrate biochemistry, neuroscience and pharmacology to develop therapies that not only prevent neurodegeneration but also enhance neuroprotection and improve cognitive health. As a young researcher, she has made significant contributions, publishing numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presenting her research at several national and international conferences. With a strong commitment to neuroscience, she is keen to partner with other fields to enhance and diversify her research focus.
show more »Dr. Li Ran is Senior Lecturer at Institute of China Studies, Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her doctoral degree in Economics from Department of Economics, Universiti Malaya in 2014. Her specialization is in the transformation of China’s state enterprises, state enterprise system and China’s political-economic system, and her current areas of research include China’s global strategy and China-Malaysia economic relations. Her previous writings have appeared in a number of international journals such as China: An International Journal, Cities, International Journal of China Studies, and Journal of Contemporary Asia. Moreover, her doctoral thesis was published as a book by a reputable publisher Palgrave Macmillan. She also wrote for Sin Chew Daily as a column author regularly.
show more »Dr Koh Peng Soon graduated in 2002 with MBBS from the International Medical University. He first gained experience in Surgery working as a medical officer in the Department of Surgery, Hospital Taiping right after internship where he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd), UK in 2005. He joined University of Malaya in 2006 for postgraduate training and graduated with Masters of Surgery (MSurg) in 2010. He worked as a General Surgeon in Hospital Sungai Buloh after graduation before rejoining University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Specialist in 2011 for sub-specialty training and his interest in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. In October 2013 to September 2014, he spent a year as a Fellow and Honorary Clinical Associate at the Division of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Queen Mary Hospital, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong which is world renowned. His interest in HPB field involves HPB malignancies, minimal invasive surgery (MIS) and liver transplantation. Besides clinical duties, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as research and already has several publications to his name. He received his promotion to Associate Professorship in early 2019 and is currently the Head of Division of General Surgery and HPB Unit & Liver Transplantation and work as a Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Surgery, University of Malaya Medical Centre.
