DR. MOHD HAFIZ BIN JAMALUDIN

Mohd Hafiz Jamaludin is a senior lecturer in the Department of Shariah and Law, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. He is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Egypt, in 2007, with a degree in Shariah Islamiah. In 2009, he pursued postgraduate studies in the Department of Shariah and Law, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, specializing in the Law of Fatwa. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2011. Subsequently, he received sponsorship from the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia under the Bumiputera Academic Training Scheme (SLAB) to pursue his doctoral studies in Shariah Law in 2012 at the same university. Throughout his doctoral studies, he had the opportunity to attend courses in Arabic language and Islamic Studies Methodology at the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, in 2013, and the Student Exchange Program at The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture, Turkey, in 2014. He completed his doctoral studies in 2016. He has been involved in various research projects led by his supervisor, Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Hidayat Buang, in the fields of fatwa and Islamic finance. Furthermore, he led a research project in the field of Islamic finance funded by the Ministry of Education, University of Malaya, and INCEIF in 2017. He has published several articles in the fields of Shariah, fatwa, and Islamic finance in local and international journals, as well as presented at national and international conferences. He is the first of three siblings, is married to Norlaila Md Yusof and is blessed with three children.

MR. ASRUL SANI BIN ABDUL RAZAK

Asrul Sani is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Built Environment. His administrative responsibilities include the coordination of the Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture program, the academic management of the joint studio programs such as UM-NUS in Thailand (2016-2017), UM-UNPAR-ITB in Indonesia 2014-2015 and the inbound joint studio program UM-Deakin in the main UM campus (2023). He has been involved in teaching, research, and consulting projects for the past 20 years. He received his M.A. (Hons) in Architectural Design and his Bachelor of Architecture (RIBA Part I and II) as well as his M.Sc. in Design and Digital Media from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to teaching, he gained professional experience from graphic design, illustration, architectural animation, and built construction projects in Malaysia (GDP Architects) and the United Kingdom (3Di and Richard Murphy Architects). He is also trained as a qualified technician in architectural workshop with special focus on woodworking and digital fabrication tools.  His research interest lies in the intersection between design, technology and architecture education. Currently he investigates architectural design process using digital design and digital fabrication methods and how they affect contemporary architectural design practice and shape the future of architecture education.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. KAMAL AZRIN ABDULLAH

I, Dr. Kamal azrin Abdullah @ Kalai Arasu Muthusamy am an Associate Professor and Consultant Neurosurgeon at the University Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. I earned my medical degree (MBBS) at The University Of Malaya in 1995. I completed my 4 years of General Surgical Training and started my Neurosurgical training at University Malaya Medical Centre in 2002. I underwent subspecialty training in Functional Neurosurgery and Movement Disorders under Professor Tipu Aziz (a world authority in the field of Functional Neurosurgery and Deep Brain Stimulation) at Functional Neurosurgery group, Oxford University. Under the guidance of Professor Tipu Aziz and Professor John Stein (a senior Neuroscientist at Oxford University and a world authority on Dyslexia), I received my DPhil (Oxon) from the University of Oxford and completed my training in Functional Neurosurgery in 2009. I am currently the Head of Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit & Functional Neurosurgery & Neuromodulation Unit at University Malaya Medical Centre. My Clinical Work focused mainly on Deep Brain Stimulation for Movement disorder such as Parkinson's Disease, dystonia and others. At University Malaya Medical Centre , we are the centre performing the highest number of DBS surgery Nationally & Regionally and are linked to global database. My research focused mainly on the advanced Parkinson s symptoms such as akinesia and the role of Pedunculopontine Nucleus in movement disorder. I also worked out the connectivity of the peduncolopontine connectivity in humans and non-human primates and their role in movement disorder. I have numerous publications in international medical journals mainly on the role of PPN in movement disorder as stated in my CV.
