DR. NOR SHAFINA BINTI MOHAMED NAZARI

In 2012, Shafina completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Following this, she embarked on a dedicated service as a dental officer at the Ministry of Health Malaysia until 2015. Later, she joined the Universiti Malaya, where she garnered a scholarship by the Ministry of Education Malaysia for her specialty training. Shafina pursued a Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, a milestone she attained in 2018. During the same year, she was awarded the Membership in Periodontics examination by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Upon her return from the United Kingdom, Shafina assumed the role of a clinical lecturer at the Universiti Malaya until September 2022. Throughout her tenure, she dedicated herself to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, encompassing academic and clinical aspects. Her impact extended to guiding master's students in navigating project management and thesis composition. Shafina has secured multiple research grants that facilitated the exploration of her diverse interests in fields such as Periodontology, Artificial Intelligence, and the response to COVID-19. She has contributed to scholarly discourse through the authorship of book chapters and publications featured in high-impact journals, as well as through her engagement with mass media. Her remarkable achievements have been recognised with several awards. Particularly noteworthy is her receipt of the prestigious Dental Education and Clinical Experience Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2022. Presently, Shafina is pursuing her doctorate at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Her research focus is centered around leveraging artificial intelligence to predict the prognosis of treatment outcomes for gingival recession around teeth.

DR. MOHAMED REZAL BIN ABDUL AZIZ

Graduate of Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr Rezal, completed Basic Surgical Training in Midwestern Regional Hospital, Limerick, Ireland. He is the first Malaysian awarded, the Irish Scholarship for Research Fellow in University of Milwaukee and presented his research on Neuroblastoma in the Annual Congress Surgical meeting in New Orleans in 2003. He completed the MRCS(Ire) in 2007 and further obtained a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery in Strasbourg, France in 2006. He pursued in Master of Surgery in University Malaya, National Colorectal Surgery Fellowship and in 2022, completed Subspecialty Training in Advanced Colorectal and Peritoneal Malignancy with special interest in Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) with Hyperthemic Intraoperative Chemotherapy (HIPEC) and Pressurized IntraPeritioneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) in HUKM and National Cancer Centre in Singapore and Singapore General Hospital respectively. He sits as a member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, Academy of Medicine Malaysia,Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons and International Society for the study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP).

DR. MOHAMMAD FIRDAUS BIN ABDUL AZIZ

Firdaus Aziz serves as a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya. His research interests encompass medical law, biosafety law, and the legal and ethical implications of emerging technologies, including stem cell technology, biobanking, and gene editing. He earned his BSc (Hons) in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Universiti Malaya and subsequently received the National Science Fellowship to pursue an MA in Biotechnological Law and Ethics at the University of Sheffield. He later completed a DPhil in Public Health at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, where he focused on stem cell law and ethics at the Centre for Health, Law and Emerging Technologies (HeLEX). Since 2016, he has been actively involved in promoting bioethics in the region as a UNESCO Bioethics Trainer. Additionally, he is a co-investigator for the Southeast Asian Bioethics Network, supported by the UK Wellcome Trust, with the aim to establishing a bioethics network in the region, and a co-investigator for the NIH Fogarty grant to develop a Master's program in Health Research Ethics at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya.
