Victor S Selvanayagam completed his degree in Sports Science and Master’s in Medical Science at the University of Malaya (UM). He received his PhD from The University of Queensland in the area of Neuroscience where he focused on identifying early neural responses to strength training. Victor, who is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning specialist (CSCS), is currently an Associate Professor and was the Deputy Director (Research and Development) with the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science, Universiti Malaya. He played a pivotal role in developing and is currently the coordinator for the first Master of Strength and Condtioning Program in Malaysia. His main research focuses on the contribution of the nervous system to strength by incorporating well-explored motor learning paradigms to strength training. He also plays a consultative role in the area of exercise physiology and exercise testing and prescription. Ultimately, Victor is keen to explore and share his expertise pertaining to the science and fundamentals of human movement, so that movements can be safe, effective and efficient. show more »Professor Dr. See Mee-Hoong Professor Dr. See Mee-Hoong is an esteemed senior lecturer at the University of Malaya and a dedicated Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC). Graduating with her undergraduate medical degree from UPM in 2003, she continued her academic excellence by earning her Master's Degree in Surgery (General Surgery) from the University of Malaya in May 2011 and obtained her fellowship in Breast Oncoplastic training from 2012 to 2015 in Universiti Malaya and Mahidol University, Thailand. Currently, she is nationally registered as a Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon. Her commitment to medical education and clinical practice led her to join the University Malaya Medical Faculty in 2012, where she specialized as a clinical lecturer focusing on Breast Oncoplastic Surgery. Dr. See further honed her skills as an honorary fellow at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2013, and later completed advanced training in minimally invasive techniques and Cryoablation at Kameda Medical Centre under Dr. Eisuke Fukuma in 2016. In 2022, Dr. See underwent robotic breast surgery training at Chang Hua Christian Medical Centre, Taichung, Taiwan. She has since pioneered minimally invasive breast surgeries at UMMC, offering patients the benefits of early recovery, smaller scars, better aesthetic outcomes, and comparable oncological results. A pioneer in Malaysia, she introduced 2D and 3D endoscopic nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) as early as 2019 and pioneer the FIRST MALAYSIA Robotic NSM with immediate implant reconstruction in 2025 . She has also been elected as a council member of Breast Surgical International in 2024, marking significant milestones in her leadership and expertise. Dr. See serves as the clinical head of the Breast Surgery Unit at UMMC (currently known as the Breast and Endocrine Unit), where she leads a team committed to providing high-quality care to patients. Her research interests span Clinical Breast Surgical Oncology, including Oncoplastic Surgery, Minimally Invasive and Robotic Breast Surgery, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), and Intraoperative Radiotherapy (IORT). She has published over 70 scientific papers, led the development of Decision Aids in Breast Reconstruction, and is actively involved in multiple clinical trials, including the TARGIT-B trial. Dr. See is also actively engaged in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) in breast cancer diagnosis. She is currently collaborating with Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea, on a clinical trial exploring AI applications for breast cancer diagnostics and treatment planning. A driving force in Dr. See's work is her passion for uniting Southeast Asian and Asian breast surgeons through knowledge sharing and collaboration. She spearheads this effort through the Asian Breast Surgery Forum (ABSF – an ECHO Project), which she leads in collaboration with the University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO®. The forum connects 12 Asian countries, fostering the exchange of expertise and best practices in breast surgery. Dr. See is actively involved in various international surgical organizations, including the International Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (IOPBS) and the International Endoscopic and Robotic Breast Surgery (IERBS) societies, contributing to the global advancement of breast surgical practices. Currently, Dr. See serves as the Deputy Head of the Visibility Unit in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya. Her leadership and vision continue to impact the field of breast surgery, both regionally and globally, as she remains dedicated to enhancing surgical standards, research, and patient outcomes.
show more »Dr Mohd Azmi bin Haron, is a Senior Lecturer at Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ISM), Faculty of Science, University of Malaya (UM). He received his PhD Finance from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He has more than twenty years lecturing and teaching experiences at degree and master level and supervised postgraduate MSc and PhD in his specialized area in financial mathematics, economics and actuarial sciences. In addition he has vast industrial working experiences in Banking, Investment, Insurance and Multi National Corporations (MNC's). His primary area of research interest include robust statistics, financial risk, econometrics and actuarial modeling. He is a member of Malaysia Mathematics Society, Spanish Association of International Economics and Finance (AEEFI), Malaysia Finance Association (MFA) and Malaysia Insurance Institute (MII).
