Dr. Raja Ahsan Aftab completed his PhD and Master in Clinical Pharmacy from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia and Pharm.D from the Riphah International University, Pakistan. He Joined Universiti Malaya in March 2023 as a senior lecturer under department of clinical pharmacy and practice. Patient outcome research with emphasis on chronic diseases management and patient health outcome optimization are research areas where Dr Raja Ahsan Aftab's expertise revolves around. His research expertise also extends to various research domains such as epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical trials, health economics, and digital health. To date, he has successfully supervised post graduate research students and has published a number of research high impact manuscript at prestigious journal. He is also an recipient of Taylor’s emerging research grant scheme and Industrial grant from Santen Pharmaceuticals. He is also a proud author of peer reviewed books and book chapters. Based on his expertise he was appointed as chairperson of ethics Committee and Interprofessional education. He awarded with Exemplary meritorious academic staff award (EMAS) for his contribution on teaching innovation.
show more »Dr Reena Rajasuriar is a Clinical Pharmacist by training and an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine, University Malaya (UM). She also holds an adjunct position as a Fellow at the Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Melbourne, Australia. She leads the research unit at the Department of Medicine, UM and is Head of the Immunotherapeutics Laboratory (ITL), a core immunology research laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine, UM. Dr Rajasuriar completed her PhD in Immunogenetics at Monash University, Australia and now leads a translational research program in HIV and Aging at the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS (CERiA). Her training as a clinical and basic scientist has afforded Dr Rajasuriar the expertise to perform multidisciplinary research spanning basic, clinical and implementation studies. Her research focuses on understanding drivers of accelerated aging in people living with HIV and its interaction with functional aging outcomes. She is also invested in understanding how integrated HIV care can best be implemented in resource limited settings to promote healthy aging. Dr Rajasuriar has published extensively on the intersection of HIV and aging, and is an international leader in advancing the knowledge in this field, having delivered multiple plenaries at international forums, co-authored multiple opinion pieces and viewpoints as well as contributed to the development of consensus statements around this subject matter. Together with members of her team, she was instrumental in developing the first ECHO training program on HIV and Aging for the Asia Pacific region to advance capacity building for health professionals providing care for people with HIV. She is also the Principal Investigator of the only HIV and aging cohort in the Asia Pacific region studying aging from a multidimensional perspective, with over a decade of follow up (2014-2024). Dr Rajasuriar’s work is funded by various national and international funding bodies including the National Institutes of Health, US, the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia. She has received multiple accolades including the Australia-APEC Women in Research Fellowship (2015), the Loreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Malaysia Fellowship (2016), the IAS Research-for-Cure Academy Fellowship (2018), the CIRA International Visiting Fellowship to Yale (2019), the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Scholars Award (2023) and most recently, the Fulbright Malaysian Scholar Award (2024).
show more »Nadhratul Wardah Salman graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She then completed a Master's in Sports Policy and a Master of Laws (LL.M). Driven by her curiosity about the dynamic relationship between sports and law, she pursued her Ph.D at Manchester Metropolitan University, focusing on the legal and safety issues surrounding children's sports. Her teaching and research interests include Sports Law, the Law of Torts, Sports Governance and Policy, and Human Rights. She is researching ways to combat match-fixing in sports and is particularly interested in the evolving legal context of the duty of care in sports. Over the past 20 years, Wardah has developed significant leadership skills. She has held various managerial positions, including Deputy Dean, Deputy Director, and Residential College Master. In addition, she has supervised and coordinated over 50 sports events and community engagement projects. Wardah is actively involved in fitness and recreational activities and has competed in numerous sports and martial arts tournaments for approximately 30 years. She represented Universiti Malaya in athletics from 2007 to 2024, with her most notable achievement being named 'UM Sportswoman of the Year' in 2010. She was a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation from 2009 to 2014. She served as a think tank member for the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) from 2012 to 2016. Currently, she is a member of the National Dispute Resolution Chamber for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the term 2022-2025.
