DR. MD FARUK ABDULLAH

Md Faruk Abdullah is a senior lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya (UM). Additionally, he holds the position of Adjunct Faculty at Guidance College in Texas, USA. Before joining UM, he was a senior lecturer at the School of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) for eight years. He earned his PhD in 2016 from the University of Malaya, specialising in Islamic economics. In 2012, he completed the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) program at INCEIF University. His academic journey also includes obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh (Islamic law and jurisprudence) in 2010 from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Md Faruk has proven proficiency in teaching Islamic finance, wealth management, Shariah, and Fiqh muamalat courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His contributions extend to publishing several articles in Web of Science and SCOPUS-indexed journals. His areas of specialisation encompass Shariah aspects of business and finance, product innovation in Islamic finance and Islamic microfinance. Presently, he serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Nusantara Studies (JONUS), indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. Additionally, he holds a research collaboration with the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as an Associate Fellow. ASSOCIATE PROF. IR. DR. MOHD RIDHA BIN MUHAMAD @ MOHD ATA'ILLAH

Ridha is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malaya. He obtained Doctor of Engineering from Utsunomiya University Japan in 2015, specializing in magnetic abrasive finishing for superfinishing of tube internal surface for clean environment applications. Prior to his doctoral study, he worked in Mazak Corporation as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer focusing on CNC prototype machine design and evaluations for mass production and customizations. He involved in the design and development of several CNC machines including Mazak's Quick Turn Nexus series and had performed more than 100 variations of cutting parameters to confirm the machine`s limits and capabilities. Currently, he is collaborating with the Joining and Welding Research Institute (JWRI), Osaka University Japan to develop friction stir welding process in a sustainable way. The project explores the possibilities of joining similar and dissimilar materials such as polycarbonate/aluminium, aluminium/stainless steel, magnesium/steel, aluminium/copper for various fundamental and applications in automotive and semiconductor industries. He was awarded the Distinguished International Associate from the Royal Academic of Engineering UK in 2023 for his project on friction stir welding. He actively applies for research grants and up to date, he has secured more than 30 projects from domestic and international funders. He has completed supervision of 7 PhD and 8 Master students, and currently supervising 8 PhD and 5 Master candidates.

DR. ISSA KHAN

Dr. Issa Khan joined in 2015 at the Department of Shariah and Management, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer after completing his Ph.D. in Takaful (Islamic Insurance) with Bright Sparks Scholarship from the University. He was also awarded an amount of money for completing this degree within three to four years. Prior he had been awarded the University of Malaya Fellowship for the Master's Programme in Islamic Financial Transactions.   In 2014,  he received Bronze Medal Award from APIUM Academic Open Week (Minggu Terbuka Akademik) and the Best Paper Award from Islamic Finance and Property Research Seminar (Seminar Penyelidikan Kewangan Dan Kehartaan Islam), the University of Malaya in 2013.  Moreover, he achieved his B.A.(Hon’s) degree in Islamic Studies and Da’wah from Darul Ihsan University, Bangladesh. Earlier, he completed Takmil (Dawra Hadith) in Hadith from Jamiyah Arabiyah Makzanul Ulum, Mymensingh, Bangladesh.
