Professor Sr Dr. Hafez Salleh , a former Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) and former Head at Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He has an educational background in quantity surveying and IT in construction. Currently, he is Head of Centre for Building, Construction & Tropical Architecture (BuCTA) Research. He has a BSc, MSc and PhD Degree from School of the Built Environment and top rated, 6* Research Institute for the Built and Human Environment, University of Salford, United Kingdom. He has 30 years’ experience in both academia and industry practice and has been an active researcher and research supervisor. He is the recipient of Excellence Service Award by University of Malaya in 2010, 2011, 2014, 2022 and recipient of Loyal Service Award 20 Years in 2017. He has supervised a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate research students in various research themes. His main research interest is IT/IS strategic management in construction and sustainable design. His previous research was the development of IT/IS Readiness Model that focuses on evaluation of organizational readiness prior IT/IS investment. He is currently working on the theme of IT/IS evaluation in construction with interest in the links between ‘hard’ & human issues and BIM Implementation in construction industry. He is a Registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor (CQS) with Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM), Fellow of Royal Institute of Surveyor Malaysia (FRISM), the technical committee member of Malaysian Construction Industry Master Plan (CIMP) 2005-2015, Strategic Thrust 6: Leveraging Information Technology, Editorial Board Members, Journal of Surveying, Construction & Property, Associate Editor for Journal of Design and Built Environment (JDBE) and Lead Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2008, University of Malaya. He was a Member of Quantity Surveying Accreditation Council (QSAC), BQSM, for Session 2019-2021, Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2015 (BQSM) 2021,2022, 2023 and he is also a regular Assessor Panel of Accreditation for Quantity Surveying Programme for both RISM and BQSM and has been appointed as an External Examiner for more than 28 thesis of Master and PhD examinations.
show more »Mohammed Taha is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Arabic Language and Middle Eastern Languages. He holds a PhD in Linguistics (theoretical) from the National University of Malaysia (2016), an MSC in Linguistics from the University of Malaya (2012) and a Bachelor of TESL from Omdurman Islamic University (2007). His main expertise lies in linguistic structures (Syntax), how words are put together to create structures (Morphology). Syntax has connections with other fields of language, including meaning, sound structure, word structure, and language use. His research interests include Syntactic Theory, Interfaces in Syntax (with Morphology and Semantics), Ecolinguistics (the interdisciplinary field that looks into the relationship between language, culture, and the environment), and Sociosyntax (the variation of syntactic structures due to social factors).
show more »Profesor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Bin Abu Osman has achieved considerable distinction in his academic and professional pursuits. He graduated from the University of Bradford, UK with a B.Eng. Hons. in Mechanical Engineering and furthered his credentials with an MSc and Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. A leading expert in biomechanics, Azuan’s research spans various areas, with a particular focus on the measurements of human movement, the design of prosthetics, orthotics, and orthopaedic implants, as well as the development of instruments for assessing forces and joint motion. In 2004, his significant contributions to the development of the prosthetic socket were recognized with the BLESMA award from ISPO UK NMS. Prof. Azuan has held a number of prestigious positions in his career. He served as the Deputy President of the Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (MSMBE), an affiliate of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). His roles have included being the Acting Registrar of UM, Dean of Engineering, Deputy Director of the Centre for Applied Biomechanics, and Coordinator of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. Marking a notable advancement in his academic leadership, he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) from 15th June 2022 until 5th November 2023. Subsequently, he continued his journey in higher education leadership by assuming the position of Vice Chancellor at Universiti Malaya starting on 6th November 2023. Prof. Azuan has been distinguished with several honors for his professional achievements and service. In 2023, he was conferred the Darjah Gemilah Pangkuan Negeri (D.G.P.N) by the Governor of Penang, bestowing upon him the title of Dato' Seri, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of engineering and higher education. He is a prolific scholar with numerous publications in books, conference proceedings, and journals. His professional affiliations are testament to his expertise: he is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) and Fellow (FIMechE) with The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK; a Chartered Professional Engineer (C.PEng) and Fellow (FIEAust) with Engineers Australia; and a Chartered Scientist (C.Sci.) and Professional Member (MICR) with The Institute of Clinical Research, UK. Prof. Azuan's career is a testament to his dedicated commitment to the advancement of biomechanical engineering and his skillful navigation through the challenges of academic leadership.
