Sr Dr Nurshuhada Zainon is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Quantity Surveying. She holds the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying from UM in 2005 and was awarded the prestigious Anugerah Pelajaran Diraja. She earned her MSc in Construction Economics and Management from The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London in 2009 and her Doctoral in Construction IT Management from UM in 2013. Her career began with CIDB E-Construct Pvt Ltd (a subsidiary of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia) as a Junior Analyst and later as an IT Project Manager. Her involvement in developing the National e-Tendering Initiative (NeTI), which was an emerging discipline, sparked her research interest in digital construction transformation. Since joining UM in 2013, she has pursued her digital construction research, focusing on utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) to achieve sustainable construction design and economy. In 2019, she was awarded the Young Excellent Researcher Award (Humanity and Social Science) by the university. Her community engagement project, #MsiaEndsDengue won UM Best Community Engagement Project 2015. She was also the coordinator for the national-level DIY Made Simple Competition 2017-2020, one of UM's flagship community-based projects. She was one of the advisors for UMCares (2018-2019) and a reviewer for multiple international journals and conference proceedings. She had spearheaded several BIM research and development MOUs between UM and industry key players such as CIDB and Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Malaysia and international university partners such as Manchester Metropolitan University. She is also actively involved with the Board of Quantity Surveyors of Malaysia (BQSM) and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) as an organising committee for various conferences. In addition, she contributes her expertise through consultation with industry partners and industry-based workshops for BIM-related development in Malaysia. Sr Dr Nurshuhada is a Professional Quantity Surveyor of BQSM, a RISM member, and a Student Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK. She is always a passionate academician in producing the best out of her students and for the progress of UM, the Faculty of Built Environment, particularly the Department of Quantity Surveying.
show more »Dr Ina Ismiarti Shariffuddin is Professor and Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her MBChB from the University of Dundee, a Master of Anaesthesiology and a Master in Medical Education (Distinction) from Universiti Malaya, Fellowships in paediatric anaesthesia from KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore, and certification in paediatric liver transplantation from Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Ina is a strong advocate for perioperative patient blood management, sustainable anaesthesia, and advanced airway management and patient safety. Her leadership includes presidencies of the Malaysian College, Society, and Paediatric Society of Anaesthesiologists. She is the current President Elect for the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists and a member of the task force appointed by WFSA to develop its inaugural Leadership Module. During COVID-19, she led the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Department at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. Her pioneering work in Basic Life Support education earned her the “Ronald Harden Innovation in Medical Education” and “Rogayah Jaafar Innovation in Health Professions Education” Awards in 2024. She holds two patents and one copyright in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, underscoring her commitment to patient safety and innovation.She currently serves as Chief Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Anaesthesiology.
show more »Dr. Hanee Farzana is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Malaya since 2016. Dr. Hanee first join UM in 2012 as an Academic Fellow. Prior to that, she worked as a Safety and Risk Engineer with ExxonMobil Malaysia from 2009 to 2011. She resigned to pursue her studies and a career in academia. Her primary research interests are design and development of novel solvents (e.g., ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvents) for various applications in chemical processes, particularly in the separation of fluid mixtures (liquid-liquid and gas-liquid mixtures), with a special interest on separation and recovery of precious metals, critical minerals and rare earh elements, and in CO2 capture and utilization. Dr. Hanee is also passionate about engineering education and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation. She was the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree program from 2019 to 2021 and was in charge of coordinating accreditation matters related to the program. She is currently the Head of Department for Chemical Engineering until 2027.
