DR. ZIAD BAYDOUN

Dr. Ziad Baydoun, born in 1987 in Damascus, Syria, is a renowned academic and researcher specializing in architecture and built environment, with a particular focus on Islamic calligraphy placement in architecture. Dr. Baydoun pursued a degree in Interior Architecture at Damascus University, graduating with excellent marks in 2010. Following his graduation, he worked as a freelancer in the interior design field for two years before joining his father in large restoration projects of Al Azem and gazali Palaces. In 2012, Dr. Baydoun moved to Malaysia to further his education and enhance his artistic talents in 3D design and Arabic cultural arts, particularly the intricate Syrian traditional 'Ajami art. He completed his Master's degree at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2016. Following his Master's, he managed Damascene Art Sdn Bhd, an innovative interior design company specializing in renovation, Islamic art conservation, and creative multimedia projects, reflecting his father's company, Baydoun Art, in Syria. Dr. Baydoun earned his Ph.D. from IIUM in 2022, with a specialization in Islamic architecture. His research on virtual reality (VR) implementation for heritage preservation is widely recognized, and he has published numerous articles in international indexed journals. His expertise spans various 3D technologies and Autodesk software, including Revit, 3D Max, AutoCAD, and Lumion, as well as traditional handmade art. Currently, Dr. Baydoun is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malaya, where he continues to inspire and mentor students in architecture and interior design. His professional journey has also seen him as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Multimedia University and a guest lecturer at IIUM. Dr. Baydoun's contributions to the field have been acknowledged through various media appearances on TV channels such as Bernama TV, TV1, and TV3, and he has been featured in newspapers for his and his family's talents in art and design. DATIN PROFESOR IR. DR. BUSHROA BINTI ABDUL RAZAK

Prof. Datin Ir. Dr. Bushroa started her career in 2004 as an academician at the Department of Engineering Design and Manufacture, Universiti Malaya (UM). In the following years, she became a senior lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UM. She earned her B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK, in 1997, and subsequently obtained her Master of Engineering Science and PhD from Universiti Malaya in 2004 and 2012, respectively. She previously served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2020 to 2021. Currently, she is the head of the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing and Material Processing (AMMP), a role she has held for nearly over the three consecutive years. She has been a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, since 2011. In 2015, she pursued her post-doctoral research program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, under a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Shortly thereafter, in mid-2016, she was promoted to Associate Professor. In the same year, she was honoured with Professional Engineer status by the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Her primary expertise is in Surface Engineering, where she became a full professor in 2022. Her research focuses on developing thin films and coating layers to optimize and enhance material properties for various applications. She also applies her expertise to the design of systems using plasma-based technologies, such as novel powder magnetron sputtering, cold plasma for water-pathogen treatment, and plasma electrolytic oxidation setups. In addition to her engineering research, she is passionate about preserving cultural heritage and is involved in projects employing computer vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze artifacts collected from museums. Prof. Bushroa has authored and co-authored more than 100 publications, with an H-index exceeding 30. Over the years, she has received numerous awards and medals and secured significant local and international research fundings. These achievements reflect her dedication to impactful education and research at both the national and global levels.

DR. CHARITY LEE CHIN AI

Charity Lee is currently Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. Her main areas of research include narrative analysis and discourse analysis, particularly involving social practices surrounding migrant and vulnerable groups, as well as narrative methodology. Her research also includes communication practices in media, politics, and healthcare. More recently, she has begun employing participatory and arts-based methods in her work with vulnerable groups. She has published in Sociological Research Online; Discourse, Context and Media; Discourse and Society; Emotion, Space and Society; Patient Education and Counseling; International Journal of Medical Informatics; and Perspectives - Studies in Translation Theory and Practice. She teaches German linguistics at the undergraduate level and a range of discourse analysis approaches at the post-graduate levels. She welcomes supervision of postgraduate students on topics relating to healthcare and forced migration employing discourse analysis, particularly narrative analysis approaches, participatory action research and arts-based research.
