DR. SU MOON TING

Dr. Moon Ting, Su, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She received her Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) and Master of Science (Computer Science) from University Putra Malaysia, and her Ph.D. (Computer Science) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to joining the education sector, she was an analyst programmer. She was the industrial training coordinator for FCSIT from 2014 to 2016, and for the Department of SE from 2016 to 2018. She is the Master of Software Engineering (Software Technology) Programme Coordinator and the Head of MSE(ST) Dissertation Title Vetting Committee since 2020. She has been or is a member of the curriculum committee and curriculum review committee for the Bachelor of Computer Science(SE) and MSE(ST). She is also a member of the Postgraduate Committee (2019 to present), Screening Committee for Academic Staff Appointment (2022 to present), and Committee for Interviewing International Student Applicants (2022). She is a member of the Research and Innovation in Software Engineering (RISE) Research Group of the department since 2016. She teaches programming and software design courses at the undergraduate level, ranging from Object-Oriented Programming (C++, Java), Data Structure (Java), Concept of Programming Languages, Advanced Programming (C#, .NET), Algorithm Analysis and Design, Software Architecture and Design Paradigms, Software Modelling, to Design Patterns. At the postgraduate level, she teaches/had taught Software Engineering courses such as Architecting Software Systems/Software Architecture, Software Metrics, and Software Engineering Process and Practice. Her research expertise lies in software architecture knowledge management, software architecture documentation, software architecture information seeking, chunking and foraging; empirical software engineering; object-oriented design, design patterns; web services, end-user web services composition, end-user software development; mining software repositories, Application Programming Interface (API) recommenders; CASE tool (programming environment); virtual reality for the Internet. She is interested in many aspects of software design (including software architecture), which include capturing and representing generic and project-specific software design knowledge and design intent, supporting efficient and effective retrieval and usage of this knowledge to assist software designers and end-users in producing good software design that factors in modularity, modifiability, reusability, extensibility, evolvability and adaptability to cater for increasingly complex software systems. Her ultimate goals are to support Do-It-Yourself (or end-user software development) as well as automated software design, development and evolution, and apprenticeship in software design. Her latest research also includes the design and development of ethical software, software engineering aspects of robotics (humanoids), automating SE tasks with foundation models (such as LLM, large vision model), knowledge graph in software engineering, and GraphRAG. DR. LAI MENG YEE

Dr. Lai Meng Yee graduated with Bachelor of Science degree (Microbiology) in 2006 from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her Master of Biotechnology in 2011 and Doctorate degree in 2018 from Universiti Malaya. She served as post-doc research fellow at the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine from 2019 to 2024. She is currently serving as a senior lecturer at the same department since July 2024. Dr. Lai’s area of expertise are molecular parasitology, molecular epidemiology and diagnostic kit development. Dr. Lai carries out host parasite interaction study to investigate the relationship between parasites and its’ host cell receptors/ligands. She successful find out the potential host cell binding partner of Toxoplasma gondii during the invasion. Dr. Lai is also interested in exploring the mechanisms of malaria infections and the interactions between infected patients and malaria parasite invasion using a molecular epidemiology approach. She also interested to investigate the distribution of zoonotic malaria parasites, originally transmitted from non-human primates through mosquito bites. Other than that, Dr. Lai also works on the identification and differentiation of human malaria and zoonotic malaria parasites using various molecular techniques, such as real-time PCR analysis, recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP). By employing these molecular techniques, Dr. Lai has developed numerous diagnostic methods for malaria, SARS-CoV-2, and dengue. These methods and primers had been patented. Dr. Lai’s dedication and hard work have resulted in more than 40 ISI-Cited publications, making substantial contributions to science and technology. Dr Lai also also have been awarded a few times for the innovation in research including Gold, and Medal prizes from Korea Creative Invention Contest, CIC 2017, Cabaran Inovasi  Inklusif 2018 Zon Tengah, World Invention Innovation Contest (WiC) 2018, International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN 2022 and Innovasi Kreativiti Teknologi Keusahawanan dan Masyarakat (organized by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan). To date, she has published more than 40 ISI-cited publications with total citations index of 470 and H-index of 13. Also, she has assisted more than 25 PGs in their research projects. 2 Master and 1 PhD students have completed their study. Recently, she is awarded a research grant from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, to further her zoonotic malaria research. Overall, Dr. Lai’s steadfast dedication to scientific research and innovation has propelled significant progress in disease detection and prevention, highlighting her as an outstanding young scientist and a role model for the scientific community.

DR. ZULHELMI BIN AMIR

Dr. Zulhelmi Amir is a researcher and senior lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He received his B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Yamagata University, Japan (2011), his M.Eng.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Malaya (2016), and his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (2020). His research focuses on oilfield water control, enhanced oil recovery, geological carbon storage, completion and drilling fluids, and flow assurance. He is particularly interested in developing innovative materials and processes, and promote sustainable practices in oil and gas operations. Dr. Zulhelmi has published extensively in ISI‑indexed journals and has presented at numerous international conferences, including those organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He is currently teaching undergraduate courses in chemical engineering and actively supervises research projects that integrate academic insights with industry needs.
