Dr Lily Azura Shoaib is a clinical specialist and a senior lecturer in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry & Orthodontic, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya, Malaysia. She gained her Master of Clinical Dentistry in Paediatric Dentistry from Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute, the University of Edinburgh in 2008 and bachelor in Dental Surgery from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo in the year 2000. Her research interests centre around cariology, special care dentistry, oral health quality of life and dental education.
show more »Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman graduated from Monash University in 1987 and trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the Monash Medical Centre and Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. She is presently the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Yale University, USA. She established the Centre of Excellence for Research on AIDS (CERiA) that conducts multi-disciplinary research on HIV ranging from clinical to public health and policy research. Professor Kamarulzaman has used her clinical and academic leadership to engage in the national and community response to HIV/AIDS. She is currently Chairman of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and an Executive Council member of the Malaysian AIDS Council, the peak HIV NGO in Malaysia. At the international level, Professor Kamarulzaman is presently an Executive Council Member of the International AIDS Society and a member of the UNAIDS Scientific Expert Panel on HIV. She has also been an advisor to numerous WHO committees on HIV/AIDS. She has played a key role in the establishment and ongoing activities and collaborations of a regional HIV research network initiative; TREAT Asia. Her achievements have been recognised through several national and international awards including the Tun Mahathir Science and the Merdeka Awards for her role as a member of the University of Malaya’s Nipah Investigative Team. She is the first recipient of the Advance Australia Global Award in the category of Alumni in 2012 and in April 2015 she was honoured with a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from her alma mater, Monash University. She also has the distinct honour of having been featured in both The Lancet and Science publications in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
show more »RAHIZAR RAMLI is an Associate Professor, currently serving the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Universiti Malaya. He received his B.Sc. (Mechanical) at the University of Hartford, U.S.A. in 1992. Since then, he worked as a Technical Service engineer in the area of vibration, and condition monitoring throughout Southeast Asia. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Malaya and was awarded with Masters (M.Eng.Sc.) degree in 1999 specializing in Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) for automotive applications. In 2007, he obtained his Ph.D., at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, United Kingdom specializing in computational mechanics involving vehicle dynamic modelling and simulation, semi-active control systems, and durability analysis for advanced vehicle suspension systems. His current research interests include experimental and computational mechanics focusing on vehicle dynamics and safety, vibration and acoustics, condition monitoring, and structural dynamics. He has produced a significant number of technical reports and has published more than 70 journal articles in the related area. He has supervised a total of 31 postgraduates, in which 26 (12 Ph.D. and 14 Masters) have graduated, whilst 5 postgraduates (3 Ph.D. and 2 Masters) are in progress. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Board of Engineers Malaysia), and the Lead Trainer for the Vibration Practitioner/Specialist Certification Programmes Based on ISO18436. He is also the steering committee member for the Malaysian Structural Integrity Society (MSIS). He received more than RM2 millions (USD 450,000.00) of research grants from various sources (internal, external, industries, and international) as a Project Leader. He has received several awards (national and international), and patents for his research innovations. He is currently appointed as the national panel for grant evaluation at the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), and for the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI).
