Juwairiah Osman merupakan pensyarah kanan dan ahli akademik dalam bidang linguistik terapan, pembelajaran bahasa, bahasa Melayu untuk penutur antarabangsa, sosiolinguistik dan linguistik am. Pada 2021, beliau menyertai Akademi Pengajian Melayu sebagai felo SLAB dengan iltizam dan semangat untuk menjadi ahli akademik yang dikenali ilmunya. Maka, pengajian doktoret dijalankan dengan begitu mendalam. Pernah mengajar di salah sebuah universiti awam sebagai guru bahasa Melayu kepada penutur asing dan tenaga pengajar kursus kemahiran insaniah. Juga pernah mengajar warga asing profesional yang ingin mempelajari komunikasi bahasa Melayu. Sebelumnya, pernah menjadi penyelidik siswazah atau pembantu pensyarah di UPM serta mengajar di sekolah menengah swasta. Sehubungan itu, telah memenangi pelbagai pertandingan inovasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran sehingga pernah dua kali dinobatkan sebagai tempat kedua terbaik dalam pertandingan inovasi, iaitu kategori bukan teknikal dan kategori inovasi secara individu anjuran institusi pengajian tinggi di Pahang dan Kuala Lumpur. Kini, meneruskan sumbangan sebagai juri pertandingan inovasi peringkat antarabangsa dan kebangsaan. Kini, meneruskan pemantapan dalam pengajaran di peirngkat ijazah sarjana muda, dan mula mengajar calon sarjana. Seterusnya, meneruskan penyelidikan dan penerbitan bagi pengkhususan linguistik. Juwairiah sangat memperhalusi penggunaan bahasa dan unsur linguistik yang berlaku di persekitaran dan masyarakat sekeliling agar masyarakat sentiasa sedar bahawa setiap ayat dan frasa pasti membuahkan hasil dalam bentuk nilai kemanusiaan dan material. Telah menyampaikan puluhan kertas kerja di pelbagai persidangan dalam dan luar negara pada peringkat kebangsaan dan antarabangsa secara bersemuka dan dalam talian sepanjang berkecimpung dalam dunia akademik lebih daripada sepuluh tahun. Merupakan Ahli Majlis Persatuan Linguistik Malaysia. Juga memperoleh Sijil Profesional, iaitu Diploma Penterjemah Profesional dari Persatuan Penterjemah Malaysia. Juwairiah Osman is a senior lecturer and an academic in the fields of applied linguistics, language learning, Malay language for international speakers, sociolinguistics, and general linguistics. In 2021, she joined the Academy of Malay Studies as a SLAB fellow with determination and enthusiasm to become an academic recognized for her expertise. Consequently, she pursued her doctoral studies with great depth and dedication. She has previously taught at a public university as a Malay language teacher for foreign speakers and as an instructor for soft skills courses. She has also taught professional foreign nationals who wished to learn Malay communication. Prior to that, she served as a graduate researcher or teaching assistant at UPM and also taught at a private secondary school. In relation to her contributions, she has won various innovation competitions in teaching and learning, including being awarded second place twice in innovation competitions, namely in the non-technical category and the individual innovation category organized by higher education institutions in Pahang and Kuala Lumpur. Currently, she continues to contribute as a judge in innovation competitions at both international and national levels. At present, she continues to strengthen her teaching at the undergraduate level and has begun teaching master’s candidates. She also continues her research and publications in the field of linguistics. Juwairiah pays close attention to language use and linguistic elements that occur in the surrounding environment and society so that the community remains aware that every sentence and phrase can produce outcomes in the form of humanitarian and material values. Throughout her more than ten years of involvement in academia, she has presented dozens of papers at various conferences both locally and internationally at national and international levels, conducted either face-to-face or online. She is a Council Member of the Malaysian Linguistics Association. She also holds a Professional Certificate, namely the Diploma in Professional Translation from the Malaysian Translators Association.
show more »Amirul Mohamad Khairi bin Mannan is an accomplished educator and researcher, currently serving as a Foundation Lecturer at the Mathematics Division, Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, Universiti Malaya. Since 2012, he has been teaching a diverse range of pre-university mathematics courses, including Algebra, Calculus, Vector, Statistics, and Programming. Amirul holds a Degree in Electrical Engineering (2005), a Master’s in Computer Science (2013), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (2017) from Universiti Malaya, and he is presently pursuing a PhD in Education. His research focuses on metacognitive processes in calculus problem-solving, particularly through the integration of GeoGebra, a dynamic mathematics software. In addition to his teaching roles, Amirul has been recognized for his innovative approaches in education. He has received several prestigious awards, including finalist of the Anugerah Khas YB Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi: Blended Immersive Learning Experience 2025, Malaysia Toray Science Foundation - Science Education Award 2024, Gold Medal at the Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition 2023 and Universiti Malaya Excellent Awards 2023 for Innovative Alternative Assessment. His commitment to using technology to enhance learning has earned him recognition both nationally and internationally. Prior to his academic career, Amirul spent five years in industry, gaining expertise in PCB layout design and online marketing. This technical background complements his research interests in mathematics education, online learning, hybrid learning, and STEM education. Amirul is open to future collaborations in education and technology integration and welcomes opportunities to supervise and mentor students. He is passionate about guiding students and colleagues in their academic pursuits and research projects, and he remains committed to contributing to the advancement of educational practices.
show more »He was born in 1965 in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, Malaysia. His early education was from his village in Sabak Bernam before he went to Sekolah Alam Shah, Kuala Lumpur, and joined Universiti Malaya in 1985 to pursue his studies in creative and descriptive writing. He graduated in 1988 and later focused his study on publishing and book marketing for his Master degree in 1991. He finishes his three year PhD program in 2001 in magazine publishing from the University Malaya. Along the way he went to Melbourne and Stanford University, California for training courses in book publishing. In 1995 he went to London School of Printing under the CHICEA fellowship from the British Council. Since 1992, he is a lecturer in the Department of Media Studies, University Malaya and became an Associate Professor in 2002. He is a now a Professor at the Department Media and Communication Studies. He served as a Director of University Malaya Press for six years (2001-2006), Head of Department of Media Studies (2009-2010 and 2011-2017), and the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, University Malaya (2010-2011). Since 2020, he is a Professor at the Department of Media and Communication Studies, University Malaya. Hamedi is an active speaker and trainer in the field of book publishing, magazine publishing, editing, scholarly writing, and profesional writing. His workshops in academic writing, transferring a thesis into a book, profesional writing, and editing has been conducted in almost all public university in Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. He is the chief editor for Asian Journal of Media Studies as well as sits in the editorial board of various academic journals in communications and media in Malaysia, Pakistan and Indonesia. Hamedi sits in the committee of ASEAN Scholarly Publishers Association (ASPA) in Manila, former member of Majlis Penerbitan Ilmiah Malaysia (MAPIM), a member of Association of Scholarly Publishing (ASP) in New York, the former Secretary of Yayasan Penataran Ilmu (YPI), committee member of Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, and alumni of Stanford Scholarly Publishing (SSP). He is also the President of Malaysian Editors Association since 2011.
