PROF. DR. SAJARATULNISAH BINTI OTHMAN

  Dr. Sajar Othman is a Professor of Family Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.  She chairs the Violence Intervention Committee (VIC), which was established in 2012 to ensure the appropriate management of family violence and other types of interpersonal violence at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She was once the head of the Department of Research, Development and Innovation and the head of the Department of Primary Care Medicine at UMMC. She was the overall coordinator for the primary care services at UMMC and chaired the UMMC medical inquiry discussion. She teaches primary care medicine, family violence,  communication and self-care to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.   She currently holds the University of Malaya Interdisciplinary Impact Research Grant (IIRG) that looks into ways to support women and children who are involved in family violence.  She is the principal investigator for one of the five subprograms of the Prevent Elder Abuse Initiative (PEACE) under the University of Malaya Grand Challenge Programme, exploring the effect of intensive elder abuse training on primary care doctors’ knowledge, attitude and skills.  Other research areas include adolescent/young adult well-being (sexual assault, healthy relationships, unplanned pregnancy and adolescent violence), end-of-life (advance care planning) and strain among healthcare providers (burnout and mindfulness-based stress reduction). The Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies has appointed her as a research fellow to provide input on poverty, ageing and health.   She is a co-chair and a regional representative for the World Family Doctor Association (WONCA) Special Interest Group in Family Violence. She is the vice president for the Malaysian Association of Adolescent Health. Heading a team of multidisciplinary researchers, Sajar was appointed as a consultant by UNICEF to explore and report on children’s rights in Sabah. She is active in advocating against family violence. She is part of the expert panel for the preparation of the Elder Abuse and Neglect Act and clinical management for domestic violence and elder abuse in the Malaysian health system.   She enjoys hiking, photography, and artwork in her free time.

DR. MUHAMMAD HADI BIN MUSTAFA

Dr. Muhammad Hadi Bin Mustafa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Quantity Surveying at the Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With a robust academic background, Dr. Hadi earned his Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2013, followed by a Master’s Degree in Construction Project Management from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2014. He completed his Ph.D. in Built Environment at the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2023. Dr. Hadi is an enthusiastic researcher in the field of advanced construction technologies. His research interests include Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Cost Management, Big Data and Visualisation in Construction and Architecture, which includes preserving traditional and cultural values in the built environment and real estates. His current work emphasizes the integration of modern technological tools like laser scanning and BIM to enhance cost management, visualization, and the preservation of traditional and cultural values within the built environment. His research contributions include multiple published articles focusing on innovative construction management approaches, such as the utilization of 5D BIM for cost management, and the application of BIM in heritage building preservation. Notable publications include studies on green building effectiveness, supply management for industrialised building systems, and the development of BIM-backed decision support systems for heritage structures. He is also enthusiastic about the implementation of disruptive technologies in the built environment, aiming to drive innovation and enhance industry practices. Dr. Hadi has been actively involved in several national and private research projects, including initiatives on sustainable waste management for younger generations and also mediation and legal practices in the Malaysian quantity surveying practices. He has also contributed significantly to academia through his supervision of postgraduate students and teaching courses related to Information Technology Management for Projects, and various aspects of construction works measurement. In addition to his academic and research roles, Dr. Hadi has developed microcredential courses on BIM for historic buildings and the built environment, further extending his impact in professional and educational spheres. His expertise is further solidified by his work on intellectual property, including the HBIM Framework for Malay Historical Buildings. Dr. Hadi's commitment to advancing construction management and his dedication to preserving cultural heritage through innovative technology make him a notable researcher in his field.

DR. NUR ARDIYANA BINTI REJAB

Dr. Nur Ardiyana Rejab is a Senior Lecturer within the Genetics and Molecular Biology Program at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. Her research expertise lies in the functional analysis of plant development, specifically focusing on the molecular regulation of flowering and the genetic drivers of oil accumulation in high-value crops like the oil palm. Utilizing Arabidopsis thaliana as a primary model system, Dr. Ardiyana performs targeted functional analysis of genes of interest to translate fundamental molecular insights into tangible crop improvements. Her current research portfolio also emphasizes sustainable agriculture through the field identification and collection of wild banana germplasm for future crop diversification, alongside collaborative efforts to develop biological control strategies against Ganoderma pathogens in plantations. By integrating rigorous laboratory-based molecular approaches with essential fieldwork, Dr. Ardiyana seeks to advance innovative and sustainable solutions for global food security and crop protection.
