Dr. Chee is a Senior Lecturer at the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre, Universiti Malaya, where he earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 2011. With a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and solving complex challenges, he actively encourages collaboration to drive meaningful outcomes. Prior to joining academia, he was a senior scientist at Aurigene Discovery Technologies, and a research associate at Cancer Research Malaysia. He has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University in 2016, and the University of New South Wales in 2008. Throughout his career, he has been engaged in diversed research teams, fostering an environment for open communication and mutual respect. His research primarily focuses on drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and small molecules synthesis. Additionally, he passionately explores biomaterials, drug delivery and nanomedicine, with a special emphasis on developing small molecules for the treatment of cancer and microbial infections. He sincerely welcomes opportunities with like-minded individuals and research groups. He believes that through diverse perspectives and collective efforts, groundbreaking advancements can be achieved in the field of drug discovery.
show more »Mazdida completed her BSc and MSc in Chemistry (Natural Products Chemistry) from Universiti Malaya and later pursue her Ph.D. in Advanced Material at the same university in Kuala Lumpur. She started her first career as a Chemistry Lecturer at Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran MARA Bangi in 1998-2001 before attached to Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya (PASUM). She has experienced in teaching Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Biochemistry. Apart from teaching, she is active in research work involves synthesis and characterization of magnesium and lithium-based composite solid electrolytes, development of STEM teaching and learning, and the latest research is to develop silver-zinc oxide nanoparticles from Scorodocarpus borneensis extracts towards antimicrobial activities. She welcomes those interested to pursue their studies in Masters or Ph.D either in the field of Chemistry Science or STEM Education. She also welcomes any interested bodies for collaboration and knowledge communication.
