Dr. Mohammed Abdo Hashem is currently working as Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) with the department of Mechanical Engineering at Faculty of Engineering in University of Malaya starting from April 2021-Onwards. He has a quite long experience in teaching courses in the fields of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering for more than 8 years. Besides that, he was working as engineer in several industrial companies for more 3 years. In 2015, He was appointed as a senior lecturer and leader of control, software and automation teaching & research groups, in the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering- Universiti Malaysia Pahang, where he led many research and teaching activities during the period of appointment between 2015 and 2021. In the research, a total of four patents have been granted to his novel research and products, namely; laser simulator approach for path planning, intelligent spanner and the autonomous road marks painting system version 1&2; with furthermore publishing more than 60 papers in high indexed ISI journals, Scopus, chapters and conferences. He recieved more than 12 grants as leader from MOHE (1FRGS and 1 PRGS) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang (8 RDU grants). His research interests include, but are not limited to the following areas: Autonomous Mobile Robot Navigation, Artificial Intelligence, Robot Path Planning, SLAM, Industrial Robotics, Mobile Manipulators, Sensors Fusion, Mechatronics Systems, Automation and IR.4, Intelligent Active Force Control, Signal and Image Processing. He is currently working, in his research group, on developing a novel AI algorithm, called laser simulator logic, that helps to avoid the drawbacks of current fuzzy logic type 1 and 2, especially in the noisy environments of industrial systems.
show more »Professor Sr Dr. Hafez Salleh , a former Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) and former Head at Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He has an educational background in quantity surveying and IT in construction. Currently, he is Head of Centre for Building, Construction & Tropical Architecture (BuCTA) Research. He has a BSc, MSc and PhD Degree from School of the Built Environment and top rated, 6* Research Institute for the Built and Human Environment, University of Salford, United Kingdom. He has 30 years’ experience in both academia and industry practice and has been an active researcher and research supervisor. He is the recipient of Excellence Service Award by University of Malaya in 2010, 2011, 2014, 2022 and recipient of Loyal Service Award 20 Years in 2017. He has supervised a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate research students in various research themes. His main research interest is IT/IS strategic management in construction and sustainable design. His previous research was the development of IT/IS Readiness Model that focuses on evaluation of organizational readiness prior IT/IS investment. He is currently working on the theme of IT/IS evaluation in construction with interest in the links between ‘hard’ & human issues and BIM Implementation in construction industry. He is a Registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor (CQS) with Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM), Fellow of Royal Institute of Surveyor Malaysia (FRISM), the technical committee member of Malaysian Construction Industry Master Plan (CIMP) 2005-2015, Strategic Thrust 6: Leveraging Information Technology, Editorial Board Members, Journal of Surveying, Construction & Property, Associate Editor for Journal of Design and Built Environment (JDBE) and Lead Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2008, University of Malaya. He was a Member of Quantity Surveying Accreditation Council (QSAC), BQSM, for Session 2019-2021, Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2015 (BQSM) 2021,2022, 2023 and he is also a regular Assessor Panel of Accreditation for Quantity Surveying Programme for both RISM and BQSM and has been appointed as an External Examiner for more than 28 thesis of Master and PhD examinations.
show more »Dr. Noorilham Ismail is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia before completing his PhD in History at Universiti Malaya. His expertise centers on Modern United States History, with particular emphasis on the foreign policy of President Ronald Reagan. His doctoral dissertation, Penglibatan Amerika Syarikat dalam Perang Falkland, 1982-1983 (United States' Involvement in the Falklands War, 1982-1983), analyses Washington's role in the conflict. His academic interests further extend to Modern European History, Latin American History during the Cold War, United States-Southeast Asia relations during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), and the History of Islam in Johor. Throughout his career, he has received several notable honours, including the Gold Medal Award (2016) from the Malaysian Historical Society, the USM Fellowship Award (2017-2018), and the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff) for 2022-2024. As a Sylff alumnus, he was also awarded the Sylff Research Grant (SRG) by the Tokyo Foundation for his research project titled, United States' Role in Consolidating Democratic Values in Malaya, 1948-1960. He actively writes Scopus indexed and WoS indexed articles, while also producing writings for Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
