Dr Madiha Baharuddin is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Applied Science with Islamic Studies Programme, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya (UM). She graduated with first class honours in her first degree of Applied Science with Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, majoring in Information Technology. It is not only the first, but one and only bachelor’s degree in Malaysia that offers a double major programme between Islamic Studies and Science. During her PhD studies, she was appointed as a visiting fellow of University of Paris, France under the mentoring and supervision of one distinguished Emeritus Professor Dr Roshi Rashed. She started her academic career in UM after the completion of her PhD from UM in 2015. Her academic interest is primarily to understand the relationship between the development of science/technology and Islam, particularly within the context of its historical backgrounds, Islamic science, and what science and technology may contribute to the Muslim society. She teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate courses/students that relate Islam, science and technology. She also has been actively engaging with university’s aim and administration since her appointment. She was appointed by the Vice Chancellor of UM as the Coordinator of Applied Science with Islamic Studies Programme for six (6) years. Throughout those years, she has been actively engaging herself in research as Principle Investigator for one of UM Research Grants entited Applied Science With Islamic Studies Programme: A Research On Its Curriculum Design. Her research also includes proposing a better curriculum in order to integrate Islam and science in higher degree institutions.
show more »Dr. Raja Jamilah Raja Yusof holds a bachelor degree in Information System Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. She pursued her studies in Master and PhD in Computer Science from the Universiti Malaya. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Software Engineering in Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, a member of Centre of Quranic Research, University of Malaya and also a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE Senior Member), a member of Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) myHCI-UX. Her area of expertise includes User Experience (UX), Usability of interfaces, Agile Software Development, Computational Algorithms, Computational and Algorithmic Thinking and Problem based approach in teaching Software Engineering Related Subjects including Programming. Her main research interests is in Human Computer Interaction and Computational Algorithms in relation to Software Engineering while Quranic and Islamic information are valued aspects of her research. Currently she holds an industrial grant for AI Datahub for Quranic Application from SmartCore Digital Sdn Bhd. Her current research also revolves around Machine Learning On Automation of Machine Learning projects based on Software Engineering practices, Software Engineering solutions in relation to AI Datahub for Quranic Application, Human-Robot Interaction and Digital Automated Disaster Management System.
show more »Chee-Onn Chow earned his Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) and Master of Engineering Science degrees from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 1999 and 2001, respectively. In 2008, he completed his Doctorate in Engineering at Tokai University, Japan. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malaya in 1999 and is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the same department. His research interests encompass wireless communications and networks, multimedia applications, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia.
