PROF. DR. JARIAH BINTI MOHD JAN

Jariah Mohd Jan is Professor in Sociolinguistics at the Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She has held several leadership roles at the university as the Deputy Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies, Deputy Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute, Deputy Dean of Research and Development, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. She specialises in sociolinguistics, in particular, gender and power in relation to language. Her recent work focuses on pragmatics, leadership discourse and the relevance of gender and ethnicity in the workplace, and academic concerns and needs of children in foster care. She is Programme Leader of the Impact-Oriented Interdisciplinary Research Grant (IIRG) Programme on documenting the language and culture of the Kerinchi community in Kuala Lumpur. She has also published numerous articles in international journals on topics ranging from gendered discourse, through socio-pragmatic aspects of interaction, to discourse and linguistic features of the Mah Meri, Javanese and Kerinchi communities in Malaysia. Her recent books include Discourse Research in the Malaysian Context (with Zalina Mohd Kasim and Sharon Sharmini Danarajan) (2020, Universiti Putra Malaysia Press), Pragmatics Research in the Malaysian Context (with Siti Nurbaya Mohd Nor, Mohd Ridwan Abdul Wahid, Veronica Lowe) (2021; Universiti Malaya Press), Voices in Texts and Contexts (with Yamaguchi, T. and Sheena Kaur) (2021; Sunway University Press), and Neoliberalization of English Language Policy in the Global South (with Jalalian Daghigh and Sheena Kaur) (2022; Springer).

Dr. Ali Ali Gobaili Saged is a Senior Lecturer at Department Quran and Hadith, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. He was born in Sana'a, Yemen, on January 1, 1978. Previously, He worked as Traditional Healer of Islamic Medicine at Yemen with experienced for 10 years.

DR. NOORILHAM BIN ISMAIL

Dr. Noorilham Ismail is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia before completing his PhD in History at Universiti Malaya. His expertise centers on Modern United States History, with particular emphasis on the foreign policy of President Ronald Reagan. His doctoral dissertation, Penglibatan Amerika Syarikat dalam Perang Falkland, 1982-1983 (United States' Involvement in the Falklands War, 1982-1983), analyses Washington's role in the conflict. His academic interests further extend to Modern European History, Latin American History during the Cold War, United States-Southeast Asia relations during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), and the History of Islam in Johor. Throughout his career, he has received several notable honours, including the Gold Medal Award (2016) from the Malaysian Historical Society, the USM Fellowship Award (2017-2018), and the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff) for 2022-2024. As a Sylff alumnus, he was also awarded the Sylff Research Grant (SRG) by the Tokyo Foundation for his research project titled, United States' Role in Consolidating Democratic Values in Malaya, 1948-1960. He actively writes Scopus indexed and WoS indexed articles, while also producing writings for Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
