ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. TUTUT HERAWAN

Tutut Herawan is an academician and presently works an associate professor at the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya. He was a visiting researcher at Parallel and Distributed Computing Research (PARADISE) Lab of Deakin University, Australia. He holds an adjunct professor position at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Brawijaya University, Indonesia (the biggest public university in the country). He has many high international research visibilities including in the Top 2% World Scientists Ranking by Stanford University and Elsevier BV, since 2020-present and his mathematics Erdos number is 4. He is also named as one of the most prolific DBLP-computer science authors and one of the best computer scientists from Malaysia according to https://research.com/ since 2021-present. He received a PhD degree in information technology from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in 2010. He has more than 19 years experiences as academic staff and has supervised many Master & PhD students. He has also examined many Master & PhD Theses from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and China. He presently holds many strategic administrative positions at the Universiti Malaya such as the coordinator of Universiti Malaya academic journal publications, approval manager for Springer Nature Transformative Agreement - a Program under Malaysia Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) with 20 public universities  (as a representative from Universiti Malaya), approval Manager for Universiti Malaya with IEEE OA Affiliate Discount Program (in process), and a member research board at Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, the University of Malaya. He has also demonstrated exceptional leadership in securing over RM 4.5 million in research fundings as PI and Co-PI from numerous prestigious grants from government and institutions partners. He has also served as a research consultant for many higher learning institutions in Indonesia. He is an active researcher and serves as the managing editor of Malaysian Journal of Computer Science (ISI WoS), associate editor of Springer Nature Computer Science Journal (Scopus), editor of International Journal of Knowledge and Systems Science, IGI Global (Scopus), and editor-advisory board member of the book series “Information Systems Engineering and Management / ISEM” of Springer Nature. He has a strong international research network with more than 465 authorship collaboration. He has authored and edited many Springer-series books and published more than 345 articles in various book chapters, international journals, and conference proceedings (with Scopus h-index 36 and ISI WoS h-index 29). He is a reviewer for international journals including top reputable journals e.g., Knowledge-Based Systems, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Information Sciences, IEEE Access, and many more. He delivered more than 50 keynote addresses, invited workshop and seminars, and has been actively served as a chair, co-chair, publication chair, program committee member and co-organizer for numerous international conferences/workshops. He is the general co-chair of the WorldCEM - World Conference on Economics and Management as one of the premier events in business and economics, which will be held in Aveiro, Portugal in Nov 2025. His research area includes data science and big data, data engineering and information systems, soft computing and data mining, information technology for tourism and computer in education.

TS. DR. NOORHIDAYAH BINTI MAMAT

Dr. Hidayah obtained her first degree in Bachelor of Science with Islamic Studies specialized in Ecology and Biodiversity from Universiti Malaya in 2009, under Public Service Department Malaysia scholarship. She then continued her interest in Science Biology at the same university under the National Science Fellowship (NSF), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation scholarship where she obtained a Master of Science in Molecular Taxonomy in 2013. Afterward, she worked as a Research Assistant to expand her experience in the research world before she continued her PhD. In the year 2015, she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia to pursue her PhD focusing on Bio-ecological and taxonomic studies of Malaysian dragonflies at Universiti Malaya. While completing her PhD, she becomes a recipient of short-term International Program Associates (IPAs) under the International Joint Graduate School Program RIKEN, by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Wako-Shi, Japan in 2016. RIKEN is Japan's largest comprehensive research institution renowned for high-quality research in a diverse range of scientific disciplines. While carrying out her PhD project at RIKEN, she was engaged in the Enzyme Research Team, Biomass Engineering Research Division, RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science. The research she has conducted at RIKEN to date aims to demonstrate the micro joint wing properties in the suborder Zygoptera using combined techniques of laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) to explore resilin elasticity investigations and analyze of protein components. In 2018, she completed her PhD and started her career as a part-timer lecturer, and afterward, she has been appointed as Senior Lecturer in 2020 under Ecology Biodiversity Programme, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. She currently teaches Animal Behaviour & Ethology and Animal Structure, Function & Physiology subjects to undergraduate students. She has vast experience in teaching and learning starting as a demonstrator back in 2013 and involved in immense research field preliminary back to 2010 and became a reviewer in several peer-reviewed and high impact journals such as PLoS ONE.

DR. MOHAMMAD ERSHADUL KARIM

Md. Ershadul Karim, LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh), PhD in Nanotechnology Law and Policy (University of Malaya, Malaysia) is an Associate Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law of Universiti Malaya (UM). He joined UM as Senior Lecturer after completion of his PhD with the very prestigious Bright Spark Scholarship.    Being a passionate researcher and academic, Dr. Karim has widely published in peer-reviewed Journals and presented papers at many national and international Conferences in his areas of interest i.e. ‘information and communication technology’, ‘artificial intelligence’, ‘legal and regulatory aspects of nanotechnology’, ‘emerging technologies and law’, ‘privacy and data protection law’, ‘health and medical law’, ‘legal research’, and ‘Asian and comparative law’, etc. Ershadul authored six books and is the author of Cyber Law in Bangladesh, Kluwer Law International, 2022 (2nd Edition), Environmental Law in Bangladesh, Kluwer Law International, 2024 (2nd Edition), Privacy and Personal Data Protection Law in Bangladesh, Kluwer Law International, 2024, and co-author of Personal Data Protection Law in Asia (second edition), Thomson and Reuters, 2018. Dr. Karim has been managing the National Chapter on Bangladesh for the Yearbook of International Environmental Law published by Oxford University, the United Kingdom since 2013. Dr. Ershadul has written Chapters on the Legal System of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Nepal, Maldives, and Myanmar in GlobaLex, New York University, USA. He has also developed the Research Guide on Nanotechnology Law and Policy, and SAARC for the same database. Ershadul has published more than fifty peer-reviewed academic papers and contributed chapters in books published by the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Chemistry, Elsevier Inc., SpringerNature and BRILL analysing, inter alia, the relationship between nanomaterials and international environmental law, various legal and regulatory issues in polymer nanocomposite, functionalised nanomaterials, biosensors, consumer nanoproducts, international renewable energy law, and nuclear energy law. Dr. Ershadul is the Managing Editor of one of the oldest law journals in Malaysia and the flagship journal of the Faculty of Law, UM — the Journal of Malaysian and Comparative Law. He has reviewed more than a hundred articles and book proposals for all major and renowned academic publishers worldwide. As an enlisted lawyer with the Bangladesh Bar Council and Bangladesh Supreme Court, Dr. Karim was instrumental in developing the Bangladesh Code, a collection of 38 volumes containing all existing Acts of Parliament, Ordinances and President’s Orders in force in Bangladesh between 1836-2006. He was also the Web Administrator and Editor of the first ever online case law database of Bangladesh, Chancery Law Chronicles [www.clcbd.org] for six years.   Dr. Karim served as Senior Research Officer at the Technical Support Secretariat of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Women and Children for three years. So far Dr. Karim and his team have received grants of more than USD 2,00,000 to research different legal and policy issues. He was a member of the research team in the “INDUSTRY-ACADEMIA COLLABORATIVE BLOCKCHAIN-BASED REGULATORY FRAMEWORK RESEARCH PROJECT”. Dr. Karim has been consulted by different national and international organisations including Japan Government's Patent Office through Kyoto Comparative Law Center, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UN Women, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), World Bank Group, European Union, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA), Consumer International, Prime Minister’s Office of the Government of Malaysia and Ministry of Justice, United Arab Emirates, Transparency International, Bangladesh, ARTICLE 19, and Qatar Foundation. Ershadul has been interviewed by Prothom Alo, the largest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh several times, the Daily Star (Bangladesh) [largest circulating English-language newspaper in Bangladesh], the Star (Malaysia) [largest paid English newspaper in terms of circulation in Malaysia], and has also been quoted in the several news media including the Prothom Alo and BBC Bangla. Ershadul is a member of the International Network Initiative on Safe and Sustainable Nanotechnology, and covers the Asian legal systems. He is also a member of the Global AI Ethics Consortium (Technical University of Munich, Germany). Ershadul is a supervisor and examiner of PhD theses and Master's dissertations in his areas of interest and expertise. Ershadul has recently developed interests in exploring the history and philosophy of technologies, technology regulation theories, sociology of technologies, science and technology studies, and is available to supervise research students willing to explore the legal aspects in these areas.
