DR. NAJAH BINTI MD ALWI

Dr Najah Md Alwi (Flor) specialises in sustainable architectural design, inclusive urban design, and low-carbon planning, with a strong belief that environmental responsibility and design excellence must coexist. She has over fifteen years of international experience across New Zealand, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, working in academia, professional practice, and design consultancy. Her work focuses on energy-efficient buildings, inclusive and socially responsive urban spaces, and eco-friendly planning, while maintaining architectural quality, spatial clarity, and aesthetic value. She is a LAM/RIBA Part II Graduate Architect and a Green Building Index (GBI) Accredited Professional since 2012. Dr. Najah holds a PhD in Social Science (Architecture & Urban Landscape) from the UK and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Design from New Zealand. She collaborates with construction industries, local authorities, and policymakers on projects related to carbon impact assessment, climate-responsive design, circular economy strategies, and low-carbon urban development. Her consultancy work integrates carbon awarenes and life-cycle thinking without compromising design intent or human experience. She is a member of the PAM ESG Committee and a Council Member of EAROPH (Human Habitat & Settlement). At Universiti Malaya, Dr. Najah is part of the research supervision team and is affiliated with the Green Sustainable Architecture Lab (GSAL) and the Urban Community Architecture Lab (UCAL). Her current research interests include carbon-conscious design, circular economy in the built environment, green infrastructure technologies, and sustainable urban systems. Dr Najah welcomes PhD and Master’s students interested in research that values beautiful, meaningful architecture alongside environmental, social, and cultural sustainability.

PROF. SR DR. FAIZUL AZLI BIN MOHD RAHIM

  Dr Faizul Azli Mohd Rahim is a Professor at the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He graduated with BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying from the University of Salford, UK in 1997, and received MSc IT in Property & Construction from the same university in 1998. He graduated with a Phd from the University of Liverpool in 2011 in the area of project risk management. Since his appointment at the University of Malaya, he had been teaching various subjects such as data analysis, construction economics, project management and IT in construction. He also hold various administrative positions such as the Head of Departments and Deputy Dean (Research & Value Creation & Enterprise) for the faculty. He had published in various local and international journals. He had been reviewing various international journal papers as well as being the examiners for undergraduate programmes and postgraduate research study. His research interest mainly construction economics, IT in construction and project risk management.

DR. NIK NUR AININ SOFFIYA BINTI NIK MAT

Dr Nik Soffiya is an early career researcher at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. Her scholarly interests are often situated at the intersection of language and social (in)justice. She is an emerging expert in Critical Discourse Studies with a strong inclination towards interdisciplinary research. Her current projects primarily revolve around discourses related to (violence against) women and children, including topics such as female genital cutting and online misogyny within the Malaysian context. She is also a co-founder of the Alliance of Linguists for Palestine (ALPS) research working group, driving linguistics-based research on the Palestinian resistance and liberation. Beyond her academic endeavours, Dr Nik Soffiya is actively involved in training doctoral candidates for Three Minute Thesis competition. She welcomes supervision request from students who are interested in exploring discourses of social issues through a critical discursive lens.
