Dr Adina Abdullah has a decade of experience in primary healthcare delivery, health systems research and the development and implementation of digital health interventions in Malaysia. She has built strong networks with relevant policy, health system and community stakeholders. Dr Adina is a family medicine specialist and a professor at the Department of Primary Care Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (UM). Dr Adina graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Science (hons) in 1997 and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1999 from the University of Nottingham, UK. She obtained a Masters of Medicine (Family Medicine) and PhD at the Universiti Malaya. Her interest in digital health evolved after she became a member of the core team responsible for the implementation of the Hospital Information System at the Ministry of Health Hospitals in 2004. Stemming from her Masters’ thesis, she was involved in the development and implementation of home blood pressure telemonitoring which was developed by a Universiti Malaya spin off company, UMCH Sdn Bhd.  Dr Adina is also a committee member for the non-profit organization, Digital Health Malaysia. She co-leads the mHealth and telehealth division at the Universiti Malaya eHealth Unit. Since 2012, she has been leading research and publishing papers on the use of telemonitoring, patients’ perspectives on digital health, prevalence of health literacy and patients’ use of online health information to make decisions on medications. Through her research, Adina has also worked closely with stakeholders from the Malaysian Ministry of Health, academic institutions and the industry.

SYAZWAN NAIM IBRAHIM is a lecturer at Department of Arabic Language and Middle Eastern Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He attained his bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Linguistics from Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco, in 2019 and was awarded the Best Student title. Subsequently, he pursued a Master of Arts (Linguistics) at Universiti Malaya focusing on the pragmatics of implicature in the Quran. He is currently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate at Universiti Sains Malaysia, specialising in interpreting studies. His research explores how interpreters manage (im)politeness in Arabic-English simultaneous interpreting, examining shifts in (im)politeness strategies under cognitive constraints. Situated at the intersection of pragmatics, interpreting studies, cognitive linguistics, and cognitive psychology, his work sheds light on the interplay between linguistic (im)politeness, cross-cultural mediation, and the real-time cognitive demands of interpreting.   He has taught many undergraduate level courses and is always interested in developing Arabic language mastery among students, especially in writing and speaking skills. He welcomes insights most notably from language service providers and other stakeholders in the translation and interpreting industry, to conduct research projects related to translation and interpreting ethics and practices, translator and interpreter training, as well as discourse in translation and interpreting. Furthermore, he is a certified translator at the Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia (ITBM; Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books) and has done a great deal of translating, editing, and proofreading of theses, books, and articles. He has served as a bureau member of research, development, and publication in the Al-Arabiyyah organization. He is currently active in contributing creative writing to The Chronicles, a biannual academic magazine published by Universiti Teknologi MARA Terengganu. 

Claire currently teaches epidemiology, research methodology and biostatistics to both undergraduates and postgraduate students at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. Claire has focused considerable energy on violence, older persons' health, adolescent health, and reproductive and sexual health research. Her research interests include the international public health burden of violence especially on older people, women and children; investigating the linkages between violence and mental health; the development and evaluation of interventions to address violence; research on victimization via ICT and exposure to social media such as cyberbullying, sexual and physical victimization; and the application of mixed methodology in public health research.  She is part of the University of Malaya Grand Challenge Programme; Preventing Elder Abuse and Neglect Initiative (PEACE). Her projects include determining the magnitude and social determinants of elder abuse (EAN) among community and institutionalized older adults; examine effects of educational intervention on management of EAN among healthcare providers; review effectiveness of interventions on EAN; the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on health and well-being of older persons, and examine the effectiveness of social isolation and loneliness interventions on health outcomes.  Since 2021, Claire is a core team member of the WHO Abuse of Older People Intervention Accelerator Initiative, an international research-practice network that aims to speed up development and evaluation of effective interventions. Claire was previously appointed as a consultant and researcher by the National Population and Family Development Board, World Health Organization and UNICEF. She is also a member for the International Network for the Prevention for Elder abuse and International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Claire assessed grants for the UK National Institute for Health Research Global Health Programme, Fundamental Research Grant Scheme and the Postgraduate Research Fund. Claire is an associate editor for Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health. She has published over a hundred ISI papers including in Nature Aging, Campbell Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Systematic Reviews, Journal of Adolescent Health, Child Abuse and Neglect, Child Abuse Review, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Trauma, Abuse and Violence Journal, Journal of Elder Abuse and Neglect among others. She also co-authoured several books and book chapters including Statistical Analysis Using SPSS 3rd Edition, Age-ing Peacefully and Guide for Caring of Older Adults. Claire has also previously an invited speaker and conducted several workshops/courses such as Research Methodology, Data analysis using SPSS, Train the trainers for CE-EBM, and Evidence Based Medicine.
