PROF. DR. TEH YING WAH

As a highly accomplished computer scientist and data mining expert with over 35 years of experience, I have demonstrated exceptional leadership, expertise, and vision in the field. Over the course of my career, I have achieved numerous successes and made significant contributions to the industry. I began as an entry-level computer programmer in 1988 and advanced to become a Professor of Data Mining at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Malaya. I obtained my tertiary academic qualifications from Oklahoma City University and the University of Malaya, and I have published more than 90 academic papers in top-tier journals, including Information Fusion and the International Journal of Information Management. I have a remarkable H-index and number of citations in Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholars databases, and I have supervised numerous students at all levels of study. My areas of research include data warehouse, data mining, deep learning, IoT, activity recognition, wearable sensors, accelerometers, heart arrhythmia, electrocardiograph, supraventricular premature beat, multivariate time series, edge computing, task scheduling, data streams, mobile computing, speaker verification, language recognition, clustering algorithms, MapReduce, stock market, and sentiment analysis. I have received several grants of more than RM one million, including public, international, and private grants, and I have completed two commercial data science projects for Petronas GTD and Air Liquide. I serve as an Associate Editor for Human-Media Interaction - Frontiers in Psychology and a reviewer for several high-quality journals. I am also an Expert Advisory Panel for Master of Science (Data Science) Degree Program at UTP, Programme Advisory Panel for Bachelor of Business (Honors) in Business Analytics at TARUC, and an external assessor of Swinburne University of Technology (BS of Computer Science program). Additionally, I am an External Assessor for Programme Master Sciences (Computer and Information Engineering), IIUM, and a technical assessor of Swiss National Science Foundation. I have been teaching data mining since 2002, and have produced many highly qualified data scientists and Ph.D. graduates who have gone on to work for top companies like IBM, Amazon Web Services, and Google. As a highly respected and accomplished computer scientist, I have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the industry, and I am confident that my expertise, leadership, and vision make me a highly qualified computer scientist.

DR. RAVINDARAN A/L MARAYA

Dr Ravindaran Maraya is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of the Indian Studies University of Malaya. His main areas of research interest are Modern Tamil Literature and Tamil Diaspora Literature. He received his B.A., in the Indian Studies Department from the University of Malaya, in 2006. After that, he enrolled in the Diploma of Education Programme and qualified as a teacher. He also received M.A. and PhD degrees in Indian Studies Department in 2012 and 2020, respectively. In 2009 he joined the Ministry of Education as a Teacher. Then he continues his career as a senior lecturer in Institut Aminuddin Baki, Ministry of Education in 2013. He was also declared a Certified Coach in the Ministry of Education by Institute Aminuddin Baki and went on to serve as a training and coaching section lecturer for National Professional Qualification for Educational Leaders (NPQEL) program.

DR. ERMA RAHAYU BINTI MOHD FAIZAL ABDULLAH

I am Erma Rahayu Mohd Faizal Abdullah, the Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Universiti Malaya. My passion lies in advancing the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and their applications in areas such as healthcare, education, and manufacturing. As an academic, I’ve had the privilege of shaping the AI curriculum at Universiti Malaya, including designing courses like Artificial Intelligence: Principles & Techniques and NextGen Software Development. My goal is to ensure students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the evolving AI landscape. My research focuses on solving real-world problems through AI. One of my proudest projects is UMFit, a real-time monitoring app for cardiac patients that aims to improve healthcare accessibility and reduce clinical burdens. I’m also actively involved in using CBCT data for dentistry research and collaborating with Perodua to enhance automation and quality systems in manufacturing. Ethical AI is a significant part of my work. As an IEEE CertifAIEd™ Authorized Assessor, I focus on promoting algorithmic fairness, transparency, and privacy. I also apply explainable AI (XAI) tools, such as SHAP, to ensure my AI models are interpretable and trustworthy. Education is my passion, and I strive to empower students with high-order thinking skills and innovative approaches to learning. I also enjoy collaborating with international scholars, such as hosting Nishitani Aoi from Ehime University, and incorporating dynamic topics like intelligent agents and Data Intelligence into the curriculum. I strongly believe in building bridges between academia and industry. Collaborations with global leaders like Zhipu AI and Alto AI have brought valuable resources to my department, ensuring we remain at the forefront of AI research and innovation. I am driven by a vision of creating impactful AI solutions and nurturing the next generation of AI experts. My journey continues to be fueled by curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to ethical innovation.
