Dr. Victor Hoe is a distinguished academic and Public Health Medicina Specialist with a focus on occupational and public health at the Universiti Malaya. As of 2025, he holds several key positions, including Professor and Head of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Editor-in-Chief, Medical Journal of Malaysia. He was also a Senate Member for the University of Malaya (2021-2024) and Head of the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Unit at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (2018-2022). Dr. Hoe's academic journey includes a PhD in Occupational Health and Safety from Monash University, Australia, and multiple master's degrees in public health and occupational safety, including Master of Engineering (Safety, Health and Environment) from UM and Master of Occupational Health from University of Turin. He is a Fellow of both the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (AMM) and the Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM). He has been actively involved in various professional organisations, serving on national and international public health bodies. His research interests encompass worksite wellness, musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomics, and health risk assessment. Professor Hoe has been recognised with numerous awards, including the International Commission on Occupational Health's ILO Master Fellowship, and the Malaysian Medical Association’s Meritorious Award and Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium of Public Health’s Medal of Merit Award in 2023. He has been at the forefront of integrating technology into medical education and practice, and has played a crucial role in public health communication, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2025, Professor Hoe continues to lead important research projects, supervise doctoral and master's students, and contribute to national and international public health initiatives. His work remains crucial in advancing occupational and public health practices, policies, and education in Malaysia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Woi Pei Meng is an accomplished academic affiliated with Universiti Malaya, specializing in applied electrochemistry. She obtained her Ph.D. in Electrocatalysis in 2011, with a primary focus on developing solid-state electrocatalysts inspired by the FeFe-hydrogenase enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for facilitating the reversible conversion of dihydrogen and holds significant technological promise for clean energy applications. Her expertise lies in electrode surface modification using materials like carbon-based polymers, first- and second-row transition metals, and 2D materials. She employs electrochemical techniques such as electropolymerization and electrodeposition to achieve these modifications. Dr. Woi's current research is centered on the development of electrochemical sensors. She has contributed to the creation of non-enzymatic biomedical sensors designed for precise detection of metabolites like glucose, sodium, and chloride in bodily fluids. Additionally, her work includes the development of a self-correcting divalent cation sensor for precision agriculture, enabling the measurement of plant macronutrients at the ppm level. This innovation can aid the agricultural industry in optimizing fertilizer usage. Her cutting-edge research also extends to the field of synthetic photosynthesis, with the aim of developing a solid-state electrocatalyst system inspired by nature. This system has the potential to produce hydrogen and convert greenhouse gases into renewable fuel, offering a promising solution to global energy challenges.

He obtained B.Sc. Hons in 1973 and Ph.D. in 1976 from UM.  He went on a French Scholarship in 1976. He returned to UM as a Lecturer In 1978. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 1999.   During sabbatical leaves, he had been to the Tokyo Institute of Technology (1983),  the PennState University, USA (1989). He was a visiting professor to the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in 1990, and to the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Thailand in April and the University of Sidney in July 1997. He has written 3 textbooks, and published more than 133 journal papers. He had supervised and produced 21 Ph.Ds. and 38 M.Sc. He has filed 25 patents and has served as consultant to many local and foreign companies.
