Dr Mohd Azmi bin Haron, is a Senior Lecturer at Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ISM), Faculty of Science, University of Malaya (UM).  He received his PhD Finance from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He has more than twenty years lecturing and teaching experiences at degree and master level and supervised postgraduate MSc and PhD in his specialized area in financial mathematics, economics and actuarial sciences. In addition he has vast industrial working experiences in Banking, Investment, Insurance and Multi National Corporations (MNC's). His primary area of research interest include robust statistics, financial risk, econometrics and actuarial modeling. He is a member of Malaysia Mathematics Society, Spanish Association of International Economics and Finance (AEEFI), Malaysia Finance Association (MFA) and Malaysia Insurance Institute (MII).     

Mr. Norhafizan Bin Ahmad is a distinguished academician and researcher at the University of Malaya, with an illustrious career spanning more than two decades. Renowned for his pioneering work in technology research and development, he has consistently delivered outstanding results in teaching, coaching, and leadership—earning recognition both locally and internationally. His groundbreaking contributions have been extensively published and cited in leading international journals and conferences, covering diverse fields such as industrial ergonomics, biomechanics, sport engineering, and renewable energy. These works have positioned him as a thought leader and innovator in advancing science and technology for societal impact. As a Project Leader, Mr. Norhafizan has successfully spearheaded numerous prestigious grants, including the High Impact Research Grant (HIR), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), the MOSTI Science Fund, Universiti Malaya Deep Tech (UMDT), Universiti Malaya Research Grant (UMRG), Collaboration Research University Grant (CG), and the Research University Grant (RU). His ability to secure and lead these high-value projects underscores his credibility as a trusted driver of innovation and research excellence. In recognition of his visionary work, he was named a Finalist in the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) in 2015, and subsequently honored with the Anugerah Harta Intelek Negara (Patent Category) in 2016—a testament to his ability to translate research into impactful, market-ready innovations. Most notably, Mr. Norhafizan is the founder of SOLWAV, a revolutionary sustainable energy project that integrates three natural offshore energy resources into a single system. This bold initiative has attracted significant attention for its potential to reshape the renewable energy landscape, offering scalable solutions for a greener and more sustainable future. With his proven track record of academic excellence, visionary leadership, and commercial innovation, Mr. Norhafizan continues to inspire the next generation of researchers while building bridges between academia, industry, and society. His work exemplifies the power of knowledge-driven innovation in creating lasting global impact.

I am currently a senior lecturer at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), Universiti Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My research interests are in postharvest biotechnology, food security, natural products and stem cell fields.I was a PhD Biotechnology graduate from UM, where I researched on the cytotoxicity and effect of Moringa oleifera leaves on human Wharton's Jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs). My work involved the postharvest preparation of the leaves via drying technology, evaluating their antioxidant properties, and to study its effects on WJ-MSCs (RNA-seq analysis). I can converse in English, Malay and Mandarin (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), therefore I often guided local students and bridged the language barrier for international students, especially those from China to understand and follow their courses. For my undergraduate studies, I achieved a CGPA of 3.95 and interned at the National Institute of Biotechnology Malaysia. Besides my academic pursuits, I am passionate about debating and coaching. I have been a debater since 2015 and represented UM in multiple international tournaments both as a debater and an adjudicator. Currently, I serve as Assistant Coach for UM’s English Debate team, and recently won the Top 10 best Judges award in Asia. My combined expertise in multidisciplinary research, multilingual communication, and competitive debating allows me to bring a unique edge to advancing academia, driving impactful research, and building global academic connections.
