DR. YAP TENG TENG

Dr Yap joined academic life as a senior lecturer in Faculty Languages and Linguistics at the Universiti Malaya in 2016. She was a Programme coordinator of the Chinese Programme at the Department of Malaysian Languages and Applied Linguistics (2017-2018). She completed her Doctoral programme (Applied Linguistics) at the Minzu University of China, Beijing; her Masters of Modern Languages and Linguistics; BA (Chinese Language Studies) and Dip. Education (Chinese Pedagogy) at the Universiti Malaya. Her main research interests are Global Chinese in general, Teaching Chinese as a Second language (CSL) in particular, attitudes, motivations and identities towards and among CSL learners, and the implications of the spread of the Chinese Language. Her teaching interests are broadly within Global Chinese, such as Chinese Specific Purpose (CSP) in Mass Media, Chinese Text Analysis, Chinese Research Methodology and Chinese Language Structure. She is appointed chairperson by the Educational Resources and Technology Division of the Malaysian Ministry of Education for the revision of the Secondary School Standard Curriculum Textbook(since 2019 till now).  She especially welcomes proposals for PhD or Master research projects on any aspect of Global Chinese, areas of particular interest include Chinese as a Second language (CSL), Language ideological debates relating to Global Chinese, Intelligibility issues relating to the spread of Chinese Language, Attitudes and Motivation towards CSL, Chinese language Teaching in higher education contexts around the world, Chinese Specific Purpose (CSP) in Mass media, and Chinese language structure-Chinese syntax, especially Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG).

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ROY ANTHONY ROGERS A/L PETER ROGERS

Roy Anthony Rogers is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Strategic and International Studies, University of Malaya, having joined the department in 2001. Served as the Head of Department from 2012 till September 2020. He has a Master in Strategic and Defence Studies (M.SDS) from the University of Malaya. He has also taught at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) and the Malaysian Defence Armed Forces College (MDAF). In 2012 he obtained Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and his research interest are government and politics of the Central Asian republics and human rights conditions in Xinjiang. His area of specialization includes Political Science, International Relations (Theories of International Relations) and History (China and Central Asia). He has been invited by the Institute of Diplomatic and Foreign Relations (IDFR) Malaysia to lecture at the Diplomatic Training Course for ASEAN Attachment Officers. He is one of the Media Resource Persons for Radio and Television Malaysia (RTM), Sinar Harian and Astro Awani. Received the Excellence Service Award in 2016, 2008 from the University of Malaya, International Visitor (IV) from the US State Department in 2006.

DR. RAJA AHSAN AFTAB

Dr. Raja Ahsan Aftab completed his PhD and Master in Clinical Pharmacy from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia and Pharm.D  from the Riphah International University, Pakistan.  He Joined Universiti Malaya in March 2023 as a senior lecturer under department of clinical pharmacy and practice. Patient outcome research with emphasis on chronic diseases management and patient health outcome optimization are research areas where Dr Raja Ahsan Aftab's expertise revolves around. His research expertise also extends to various research domains such as epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical trials, health economics, and digital health. To date, he has successfully supervised post graduate research students and has published a number of research high impact manuscript at prestigious journal. He is also an recipient of Taylor’s emerging research grant scheme and Industrial grant  from Santen Pharmaceuticals. He is also a proud author of peer reviewed books and book chapters. Based on his expertise he was appointed as chairperson of ethics Committee and Interprofessional education. He awarded with Exemplary meritorious academic staff award (EMAS) for his contribution on teaching innovation.
