Dr. Nor Fahimah Mohd Razif is an Associate Professor at the Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. She earned her PhD in Fiqh al-Mu‘amalat from Universiti Malaya in 2014 and has since developed a strong academic and industry-facing profile in Islamic finance and Shariah governance.
She began her career at the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), contributing to technical research on Islamic hedging instruments, particularly option-based structures. She subsequently joined the Securities Commission Malaysia as an Executive in the Islamic Capital Market Department, where she was directly involved in regulatory and product development matters relating to Shariah-compliant capital market instruments. This combination of research and regulatory experience has positioned her at the intersection of academic scholarship and industry practice.
Dr. Nor Fahimah has served and continues to serve on several prominent Shariah Committees, including Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, RHB Islamic Bank, National Farmers Fund (NAFAS), Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS), and Masryef Advisory. Through these roles, she provides strategic Shariah advisory services on Islamic bank products, Islamic capital market products, fund structuring, governance frameworks, and compliance oversight, thereby strengthening institutional credibility and market confidence.
Her scholarly contributions include numerous publications in reputable journals, books, and conference proceedings at national and international levels, particularly in Islamic economics, sukuk structuring, debt from the Islamic perspective, and financial regulation. Her expertise in Fiqh al-Mu‘amalat, Islamic banking, Islamic capital markets, and Shariah-compliant financial transactions underpins her growing academic leadership and sustained industry visibility in the field of Islamic finance.
