Azizi Che Seman is currently a senior lecturer at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. He was with the department since 2002.
He involves in a number of research in Islamic finance including studies on waqf and zakat. He also has written a number of articles in the fields of fiqh Muamalat, Islamic economics and Islamic finance, presented papers in conferences at international and local levels, and has published articles regarding Islamic banking and finance in proceedings, books and journals. His specialized areas are transactional law (Fiqh al-Muamalat), Islamic Capital Market as well as Islamic Finance.
Apart from formal academic position, he also involves in Islamic finance industry as the Chairman of the Shariah Committee of RHB Islamic Bank, Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council of Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), member of the Shariah Committee of Sun Life Takaful, member of the Shariah Committee of BSN, former Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, former Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Agrobank, former Chairman of the Joint Management Committee of Wakaf Selangor Muamalat and former Chairman of the Shariah Committee of IBFIM. He is also a member of Jamaah Ulama Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan and a Shariah Committee member of YaPEIM.
