PROF. DR. STEFANIE SHAMILA PILLAI

I am currently a Senior Professor at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. My main areas of research include Varieties of English, in particular, Malaysian English, as well as language use in educational and in multilingual contexts. Additionally, I  work on an endangered language, Melaka Portuguese, which I have digitally archived at the Endangered Languages Archive. As part of my interest in indigenous languages and culture, in 2019, I co-convened an exhibition on indigenous languages in Malaysia in conjunction with the International Year of Indigenous Languages. My work and thoughts on endangered languages in general, and more specifically on Melaka Portuguese, have been featured in local and international media. I am a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and a 2024 recipient of the ASM's Top Research Scientist. I was the 2013 Ian Gordon Fellow at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, and until recently an Adjunct Professor at Mahidol University in Thailand.

ASSOCIATE PROF. SR DR. UMI KALSUM ZOLKAFLI @ ZULKIFLY

Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly  holds the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying from Universiti Teknologi Mara. She attained her Master of Science in Construction Contract Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in the year 2008.  She completed her Doctoral degree in Built Environment from Universiti Teknologi Mara in the year 2017 and is now persuading her research interest in construction contract management and professional practice in built environment areas.  She worked with the industry for 10 years prior joining Universiti Malaya, as a Quantity Surveyor and Management Representatives at ARR QS Consultancy. Ever since joining UM as a Lecturer in 10th October 2008, Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly received the certificate of Excellent Service by UM in the year 2012.  She has produced 2 Master graduates and currently supervising 5 PhDs.  She currently holds 26 publications including books, ISI-ranked articles, Scopus-indexed articles, chapters in book, as well as, in refereed international and national journals. She also has presented papers in conferences locally and internationally.   In addition, she also won Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for her innovation through research and development in multiple national competitions. One of her innovations through community reserach project had also received Intellectual Properties Copyrights. In terms of research grant, Umi Kalsum Zolkafli  has received  in total of RM 2,462,813.66 as principal investigator and co-researcher. She is also a reviewer for multiple international journals and conference proceedings. She is also actively involved with Board of Quantity Surveyors of Malaysia (BQSM) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) as organizing committee for several international conferences, seminars and workshop Umi Kalsum Zolkafli @ Zulkifly registered as Consultant Quantity Surveyors (CQS) under the Board of Surveyors Malaysia  and a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (FRISM). She has served as a main committee of Quantity Surveying Division, RISM for more than 5 years.  In addition, she has contributed her expertise in accreditation of Degree programme for public and private Universities under Board of Surveyors Malaysia. She also one of the assessor for the Diploma accreditation programe with Royal Instituitions of Surveyors Malaysia

PROF. DR. KHADIJAH BINTI MOHD KHAMBALI @ HAMBALI

Dr. Khadijah Mohd Khambali @ Hambali, who graduated from the Universiti Malaya (Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degree) is currently the Professor at the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, working in the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought. She has been appointed as Director of the Universiti Malaya Centre of Civilisational Dialogue (UMCCD) from September 2024-August 2026. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Institut of Islamic Understanding, Malaysia for Shariah, Law and Politics Studies (SYARAK) with effect from June 3, 2025 to May 31, 2026.  She served as the post of Co-ordinator of the University Co-Curriculum and Elective Section (SKET) and currently known as CITRA, Universiti Malaya (2004-2006), Deputy Director of Centre for Civilisational Dialogue, Universiti Malaya (2006-2007). She was also a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU), Georgetown University, Washington DC from 2001-2002, Research Fellow in Religious Studies Programme, School of Arts History, Classics and Religious Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (March 2008-September 2008) and the Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Leeds in 2013 for a one year.  Professor Dr. Khadijah's broad academic and research interests involve Comparative Religion, Religious Studies, Interfaith Dialogue, Mualaf Community, and Islamic Thoughts. She produced over 318 publications including books, chapters in books, articles in refereed journals including WoS and Scopus indexed, conference proceedings that were presented nationally and internationally, and magazines.    Professor Dr. Khadijah currently produced more than 51 master students and 31 doctorate students in her fields. In the professional field, she involves in various committees; as a member of the committee on religious issues at the National Security Council of Malaysia (2010-2013), and the member of the Research Committee of the Wasatiyyah Institute Malaysia (2017-2018); and currently, she is a member of the Islamic Religious Council, State of Selangor (MAIS) from 2018 and present; a member of the Selangor State Fatwa Committee from 2018 and present; member of the Selangor State Religious Control committee from 2018-2023 and chief in editor of AL-UMMAH Journal as well as an editorial board of Islamic Journal, Turkey and AFKAR Journal (SCOPUS-Q2). She is also a committee member of the Islamic Media at Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) from 2020 and present, member of Islamic Studies Programme Standard Expert for MQA, academic advisor for local universities, and experts panel for long life learning modules for JAKIM and JAIS; and postgraduate external examiners. Professor Dr. Khadijah also provided affidavits of the Allah sentencing issues for the Attorney General Chambers and the National Security Council as well as for JAKIM. She also contributes to society through her involvement with a number of a non-government organization (NGO) including ALUMNI Academy of Islamic Studies (ALIM).
