DR. ZAITON BINTI AZMAN

Dr. Zaiton Azman is a senior lecturer at the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. Her core area of expertise is Criminology. She has been involved in developing and promoting teaching, learning, and research opportunities in the field of criminology and social work. She teaches crime and criminal justice, crime prevention, law and advocacy in human services, and social remedy. Her research interest focuses on crime prevention and community policing programs for children beyond control in Malaysia. She also involves as a consultant team member at National level projects such as Malaysian Social Workers Knowledge and Practice (2018) and Sarawak Well Being Index (2019-2020). 1. She is currently leading the FRGS research entitled Development of a Crime Safety Index Framework Based on a Sense of Safety Approach for Urban Communities (2023-Mac 2026). She is also a committee member of the Malaysian Criminology and Corrections Association (MCCA).

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. MONIKA @ MUNIRAH BINTI ABD RAZZAK

Dr. Monika @ Munirah binti Abd Razzak is an Associate Professor at the Department of Al-Qur'an and Al-Hadith, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. She holds a PhD in Qur'anic and Sunnah Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and specializes in Qur'anic studies, tafsir (exegesis), Quranic science, health sciences according to the Qur'an and Hadith, and digital application development for Qur'anic and hadith studies. She has previously served as Head of her department and as Editor-in-Chief of al-Bayan: Journal of Qur'an and Hadith Studies (published by Brill). Nationally, she is a member of the National Professor Council and the Malaysian Al-Quran Development Advisory Board. She has also served as an Assessment Panel member and external assessor for the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), as a member of the Academic Advisory Committee at Darul Quran JAKIM, and as a grant reviewer for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). Between 2012 and 2026, she has evaluated numerous postgraduate theses, candidature defences, and research instruments at the University of Malaya and other higher education institutions. Her research portfolio includes over RM 1.2 million in funded projects as Principal Investigator and collaborator, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education (FRGS), University of Malaya (UMRG), Transdisciplinary Research Grant Scheme (TRGS), and private industry grants. Key projects include: transdisciplinary research on medicinal fruits and herbs mentioned in the Qur'an and Hadith (TRGS), digital authentication of Hadith to prevent commercial misuse of scriptures, Qur'anic perspectives on mental health among Generation Z, Islamic legal frameworks for artificial intelligence technology, non-Muslim engagement with Qur'anic texts, and the translation and scholarly commentary of JamiĘż al-Tirmidhi. She also investigates the misuse of Qur'anic verses on digital platforms such as YouTube and develops Qur'anic-based learning models for younger generations. Beyond academia, Dr. Monika is a regular public scholar, contributing to Berita Harian, Harian Metro, Utusan, Malaysiakini, RTM, Malaya News Room, Edisi 9 and UM Research Plus, writing on Qur'anic values, digital ethics, and spiritual resilience. She previously hosted Tadabbur Al-Quran on IKIM FM. To put it simply, her career is driven by three core commitments: first, uncovering what the Qur'an and Hadith teach about holistic health and healing; second, ensuring that digital Islamic content from apps to social media remains trustworthy and authentic; and third, exploring how sacred texts can inform ethical responses to modern challenges like artificial intelligence and digital culture. By actively collaborating with experts in health sciences, information technology, and industry sectors, she builds bridges between classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary innovation, helping people navigate modern life with spiritual depth, ethical clarity and practical wisdom.

IR. DR. JEGALAKSHIMI A/P JEWARATNAM

Ir. Dr. Jegalakshimi Jewaratnam is a senior lecturer in Chemical Engineering Department , University Malaya. At present, she is also the coordinator for Masters of Safety, Health and Environment Engineering. She received her BEng (Chemical) and MEngSc (Chemical) from University Malaya in year 2003 and 2007 respectively. She completed her PhD (Chemical Engineering) in Newcastle University, United Kingdom in year 2013. She is a Professional Engineer registered in Board of Engineers Malaysia (2019) and  a Chartered Engineer registered in Engineering Council, UK (2018). She is a Member of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM) (2019) and Institute of Chemical Engineering Malaysia (MIChemE)(2018). Prior to academic position, she has worked in the water industry as a technical and project engineer. In her academic career span, she has published academic journals and conference papers, engaged in industrial consultations and presented invited talks. Her research interests are advanced process control and optimization in bioprocesses, waste recovery and management; environment health and quantitative risk assessment.
