Dr. Ong Tze Chin received her PhD and LLM from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) under the scholarship of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Prior to her academic career, she was a practicing lawyer in litigation after obtaining her LLB(Hons) Degree from University of Northumbria, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. She was called to the UK Bar as Barrister-at-Law by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2005 and Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2007. She started her academic career in 2010 and has been actively involved in teaching and research. She is a passionate researcher and has been actively involved in many research writings and projects. She has published over 20 publications both national and internationally including journal articles, chapters in books and proceedings. She specialises in consumer protection law, comparative legal research, contract law, law of remedies, sale of goods and alternative dispute resolution. Her research area is in consumer protection law, particularly in the current consumer issues related to e-commerce and competition law. She is currently the project leader for FRGS research project of "A Framework for Competition Law on Digital Market of E-commerce Platforms in Malaysia." She completed 2019 FRGS research project on building guidelines for avoidance of fraudulent online sale for consumer protection. She had been involved in competition law research project funded by Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) and successfully completed the research project on Behavioural Insights of Voluntary Tax Compliance of Malaysian E-commerce funded by Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN). She also consulted on the OPSS UK Product Safety Review: Call for Evidence Response of the Product Liability Forum in 2021 on issues related to product safety on IoT. Her recent consultation projects include ASEAN Guidelines on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce and ASEAN Guidelines on Unfair Contract Terms of Consumer Protection in ASEAN (PROTECT I) and (PROTECT II) project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. She is also the consultant for KK IT Research Art, Japan on the research project awarded by Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) on laws and regulations in Malaysia common to IoT products.

Dr. Nurul Shahnaz Ahmad Mahdzan is a Professor and served as the Head at the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business & Economics, University of Malaya from 2019-2023. She obtained her PhD from the Nottingham University Business School, UK; MBA (with Distinction) from the University of Malaya; and BBA (Finance) (Summa Cum Laude) from Ohio University, USA. Her research passion is in the area of Consumer Finances, particularly on the issues of financial behaviour and economic psychology of households - this includes their financial literacy, financial well-being, fintech adoption, financial attitudes, saving behaviour, investment risk-taking behaviour, and gullibility to financial fraud victimisation. She also has an interest in studies related to the financial services industry, particularly in insurance and risk management. Her current research project involves FinTech usage among millenials and the Gen X's and how this impacts financial well-being. Recently, she was invited as a Plenary Speaker at the National Financial Literacy Symposium (NFLS 2023) to share her views on the state of financial literacy and financial well-being among Malaysians. She has also appeared in numerous national TV, radio and print media where her views on personal finance and economic issues have been sought. She has been appointed as a panel of assessor for the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) research grants since year 2020 to date. Additionally, she has been invited to speak on several local industrial platforms on the topic of Consumer Finances. She has been invited as guest speaker at international symposiums and platforms that discuss financial and economic issues pertaining to the Malaysian context. Her deep interest and engagement in the area of Consumer Finances stems from her ten-year experience working in financial services, where she mainly dealt with consumers and their personal finances. It was then that her passion the area began and continues till today, as reflected in her research, publications and other activities.  

  Associate Prof. Dr. Roslina Ismail, known as Lyne Ismail, is a distinguished visual artist, academic, and researcher specializing in Art-Science Convergence, Neurodiverse Creative Interventions, and Contemporary Abstract Art. Her abstract art reimagines microstructures and biological processes as metaphors for social complexities and personal narratives. Her interdisciplinary research is highlighted in her publication in Leonardo Journal (MIT Press), titled "Object-Oriented Ontology in Shaping Perspectives on Bacterial Art and Non-Human Agency," exploring how non-human actors like bacteria and AI challenge traditional notions of creativity. Her broader inquiry focuses on non-human agency and its societal impact, grounded in Science and Technology Studies (STS). In Cultural Studies, Lyne’s research examines subculture and intangible cultural heritage, including her work on Malaysian female Muslim punks and Islamic aesthetics. She contributes to global discussions on the preservation and reinterpretation of cultural practices through contemporary art. Her RimbaScape Room project addresses neurodiverse mental health, demonstrating art’s transformative potential for social change. Internationally exhibited, including at the Slade School of Fine Arts, Lyne continues to push boundaries in visual culture, technology, and cultural heritage, mentoring emerging scholars and fostering innovation in art and society.   Area of Expertise:   Art-Science Convergence: Exploring the intersection of art, technology, and science, with an emphasis on creative interventions and their societal impact.
