Rozana Othman received her BSc (Hons) in Chemistry in 1995, and PhD degree in 2010 from Universiti Malaya. She joined the Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, in 1999 as a lecturer. She became a Senior Lecturer in 2007 and Associate Professor in 2016. She achieved top five Merck Young Scientist Award 2009, and was also awarded with the Bioinno Award in 2010 by Biotech Corp, Malaysia, The Jenesys Programme by The Japan Foundation in 2010, and the Asian Core Program Lectureship Award in 2014. Rozana initiated and worked towards the setting-up of the computational research lab in the faculty, which is now known as INSPirE (In Silico Pharmaceutical Suite). Currently, Rozana is the Head of the External Linkage Division under the Faculty of Pharmacy. She is also the Deputy Head for the Centre of Natural Products Research and Drug Discovery (CENAR), a founding member of the Drug Design and Development Research Group (DDDRG) Universiti Malaya, an associate member of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry, and a member of the Malaysian Natural Products Society. Rozana was the Deputy Dean of Research & Development (2019-2021), Deputy Dean of Research, Value Creation and Enterprise (2022-2023) and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (2023). Her research interest revolves around the area of Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry and Computational Chemistry. Till date, she has supervised more than 16 PhD and 8 Masters by research students.
show more »Dr. Lim Wei Kang is a medical lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, and a consultant general paediatrician and paediatric neurologist at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. He graduated from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and subsequently completed his postgraduate training in general paediatrics at Universiti Malaya. Dr. Lim pursued subspecialty training in paediatric neurology in Malaysia before undertaking a clinical fellowship in paediatric movement disorders and neuromodulation at the Hospital for Sick Children, Canada. His clinical and academic interests centre on paediatric movement disorders, with a particular focus on the use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in complex paediatric neurological conditions. He played a key role in establishing Malaysia’s first paediatric deep brain stimulation service, contributing significantly to the development of advanced neuromodulation care for children in the region. Dr. Lim continues to be actively involved in clinical service, teaching, and research, with ongoing efforts to expand access to specialized neurological care for children.
show more »Dr. Zahiruddin Fitri is a Senior Lecturer in the Building Surveying Department at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. Specialising in building pathology (or the science of what goes wrong with buildings), he earned his PhD in Concrete Technology from the University of Dundee in 2012. From 2014 to 2024, he served as Head of E-Learning at the university and was Deputy Director of the Academic Development Centre (ADEC) from 2020 to 2022. A key resource in teaching and learning, he has conducted extensive training for academics and co-authored university policies on e-learning. He has also played a crucial role in shaping Malaysia’s higher education landscape through his involvement in MEIPTA, a national think tank for e-learning policy and European-level projects like Erasmus+ CBHE. Passionate about pedagogical innovation, he actively writes on technology-enhanced learning and contributes to national and international education initiatives, and have given several keynote speeches on the topic. He can be seen riding his bicycle every day to work.
