PROF. DR. INA ISMIARTI BINTI SHARIFFUDDIN

  Dr. Ina Ismiarti Shariffuddin is a Professor and Senior Consultant in Anaesthesiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She earned her MBChB from the University of Dundee, Scotland, followed by a Master of Anaesthesiology and a Master in Medical Education (Distinction) from Universiti Malaya. She completed a paediatric anaesthesia fellowship at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore, and trained in paediatric liver transplantation at Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. Beyond paediatric anaesthesia, Dr. Ina is a passionate advocate for perioperative patient blood management, advanced airway techniques, and sustainable anaesthesia practices. She actively drives innovation, improves patient outcomes, and advances the field through clinical research, education, and global collaborations. As Chief Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Anaesthesiology, she plays a key role in shaping academic discourse. Dr. Ina has held esteemed leadership roles, including President of the Malaysian College of Anaesthesiologists, the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists, and the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists and was appointed by the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) to develop its inaugural Leadership Module, highlighting her global recognition. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety as Head of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. Her contributions to medical education have been widely recognised, with her pioneering work in integrating Basic Life Support training for Malaysian youth earning prestigious awards, including the “Ronald Harden Innovation in Medical Education Award (2024)” and the “Rogayah Jaafar Award for Innovation in Health Professions Education (2024)”. Dr. Ina’s dedication to innovation is reflected in two patents and one copyright in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, translating clinical insights into practical solutions that enhance patient safety and efficiency. Her current work focuses on advancing medical education, environmental sustainability in healthcare, and patient blood management in anaesthesia. She currently serves as President of the College of Anaesthesiologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. Internationally, she sits on the Executive Committee of the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists and contributed to the WFSA’s inaugural Leadership Module. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led as Head of Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at UMMC. Her award-winning innovations, patents, and global collaborations reflect her enduring commitment to education, sustainability, and leadership in anaesthesia.

DR. SUJATHA A/P RAMASAMY

Dr Sujatha Ramasamy is a Senior Lecturer at the Program Science Biology with Education, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. Dr Sujatha was previously the Head of Academic Quality Assurance Unit at the Quality Management & Enhancement Center (QMEC) responsible for accreditation and quality assurance of all levels of academic programmes in Universiti Malaya. She has had a wide of experience in quality management systems and academic quality assurance. Currently she is the Quality Manager for Faculty of Science. Dr Sujatha Ramasamy completed her BSc. (Biomedical Technology). MSc. and PhD. (Natural Product Research) from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She had more than 20 years of experience in research in the field of plants-derived natural products, which is focusing on medicinal food and underutilized plants. Her main interest is mainly on assessing the bioactive compounds from plants as source for potential candidates for anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound healing agents. Dr Sujatha also exploring on the natural pigments from plants as potential food colorants. Her current focus is on medicinal food plants which consumed by Asian culture with the intention of health maintenance. Through the research findings, she aimed to understand the medicinal food plant’s efficacy in its cultural context and promoting its consumption in enhancing well-being. Dr Sujatha is also had more than 20 years’ experience in animal (cancer and normal cells) cell culture techniques in which most of the biological screening had been conducted in in vitro model. She had experienced in handling ELISA assay and immunochemistry test. Her study also includes on the biological mechanism that trigger the plant’s therapeutic activity.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NG LEE LUAN

Associate Professor Dr. Ng Lee Luan obtained her PhD in Applied Linguistic from University of Otago, New Zealand. She teaches postgraduate courses related to research methodology and second language acquisition at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. Her current research interest includes computer assisted language learning, online learning, game based learning and the use of computer automated feedback and AI generated output as a tool or aid in academic context, especially in higher education . She is also a certified trainer for the software, NVivo. She has been invited to conduct workshops related to qualitative data analysis and using computer assisted qualitive data analysis software in deciphering research data at various public and private universities locally and abroad. She has also participated in research projects with a interdisciplinary focus. Lee Luan has also been invited to review journal articles for overseas and local  publication such as Frontiers in Psychology - Language Sciences, Pertanika Journal, Malaysian Journal of ELT Research, The Malaysian Journal of Learning and Instruction.
