DR. MEHDI SOLTANZADEH

Dr. Mehdi Soltanzadeh was born in 1980 in Iran. After earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in Iran, he traveled to Malaysia in 2006 to attend an international humanities seminar, where he met several distinguished professors from Malaysian universities. This experience inspired him to pursue a doctorate faculty of arts and social sciences, department of history at the University of Malaya, one of the premier and oldest institutions in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, Dr. Mehdi chose to remain in Malaysia, driven by his fascination with the country's history, culture and multi-racial society. He collaborated with the Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia for a year as a senior researcher, mostly on researching and translation of  Manuscripts, then he became of life member of Malaysia Translators’ Association,  he engaged in research with the Department of Malay Studies at the National University of Malaysia, focusing on translating various Persian classical texts into Malay. Additionally, he serves as a translator for the Islamic Encyclopaedia Foundation in Iran, where he has translated numerous entries authored by Malaysian and Indonesian scholars from Malay language into Persian language for publication in the Islamic World Encyclopaedia in Iran. Dr. Mehdi now is a senior lecturer at Academy of Malay Studies, Universiti Malaya.

DR. CHONG WU LING

Dr. Chong Wu Ling is a senior lecturer at the Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Her areas of expertise include ethnic Chinese studies and Southeast Asian politics. She is the author of Chinese Indonesians in post-Suharto Indonesia: Democratisation and ethnic minorities (Hong Kong: Hong Kong University Press, 2018). The book explores the role of ethnic Chinese Indonesians in shaping the democratisation process as well as their position in post-Suharto Indonesia across business, politics and civil society. She is also the co-author of Kaedah penyelidikan dan panduan penulisan [Research methods and guidance for writing, in Malay] (Kuala Lumpur: Universiti Malaya Press, 2016) (with Professor Dr. Sivachandralingam Sundara Raja and Dr. Noraini Mohamed Hassan). Wu Ling has published articles and book reviews in Asian Ethnicity, Pacific Affairs, Southeast Asian Studies, Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (JSEAS), JATI—Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, Sejarah, Sarjana, Borneo Research Journal (BRJ), Jebat: Malaysian Journal of History, Politics & Strategic Studies, Journal of Chinese Overseas, and International Journal of China Studies.

DR. NUR NAJAH RADHIAH BINTI ZAINAL ABIDIN

Najah Zainal Abidin is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. Her research delves into the intricate ways language influences political, gender, and social dynamics. With a keen interest in the interplay of evasive language, hate speech, impoliteness, and the giving and taking of offenses, she explores how these elements manifest in both everyday conversations and online environments. Najah's work also focuses on discriminatory and offensive language, examining how it shapes and reflects societal attitudes and power structures.
