Associate Professor Dr Ashril Yusof holds a Bachelor of Science and Medical degree from St Andrews University in Scotland, which he completed in 1992. He further pursued his academic journey by obtaining a Masters in Sport and Exercise Science (Health Science) from the University of Essex in England in 1997. In 2006, he successfully completed his PhD in Sports Science, specializing in Biochemistry and Physiology, at the University of Essex. His doctoral research focused on investigating exercise-induced oxidative stress in erythrocytes. Currently, Dr Ashril Yusof serves as a senior member of the academic staff at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science at Universiti Malaya. He brings with him extensive experience and knowledge gained during his tenure as a member of the National Sports Medicine Institute in the United Kingdom from 1996 to 2006. Additionally, he actively participates as a member of the Malaysian Association of Sports Medicine (life member) and the Malaysian Strength and Conditioning Association (since 2016). He is also an associate chief editor for Frontiers in Physiology. Dr Ashril’s research interests span a wide range of areas within exercise and sport science, as well as clinical studies. His primary focus lies in exploring metabolic changes and biochemical events occurring during severe endurance exercise. Specifically, he examines the regulation of circulatory oxidative enzymes and the senescence of erythrocytes during prolonged exercise. His research also delves into the potential manipulation of protective effects through the use of natural supplements and blood concentrates. Within his current research endeavours, Dr Ashril Yusof explores various topics, including the association between nutrition, appetite regulation, and neuromuscular fatigue. He also investigates skeletal muscle damage and healing, the impact of natural products on performance, as well as studies related to soccer or football. Moreover, he is actively involved in clinical studies concerning osteoarthritis and laser therapy, as well as obesity and postural abnormalities among school children. Dr Ashril Yusof's extensive academic background and diverse research interests position him as a valuable contributor to the fields of exercise and sport science, as well as clinical studies, furthering our understanding of human performance and health. show more »Dr Mohd Zulkhairi Mustapha is a Professor in the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Malaya. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. He is also an associate member of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Accountants (MICPA). He is currently the Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Before to this, he held several other positions, such as Head of the Accounting Department, Head of the Customer Feedback and Improvement Unit at the Quality Management Enhancement Centre (QMEC), and Bachelor of Accounting coordinator. He is an expert in the field of taxation and corporate governance. His research interests are tax governance, tax compliance, international tax, ESG, and internal corporate governance mechanisms. He has published extensively in reputable journals and books and is actively involved in postgraduate supervision, research, and consultancy works. He also conducted training in several workshops and has appeared in tax forums organized by local broadcasters such as Astro and TV3.
show more »Dr. Anand Ramanathan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Saveetha Dental College & Hospital under The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, India in 2002. He then pursued his Master of Dental Surgery, specializing in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at Rajah Muthiah Dental Collage & Hospitals, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, India in 2009. He then migrated to Malaysia where he did his spouse program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya to obtain his practicing license in Malaysia in 2011. From 2009 to 2011 during his spouse program he was actively involved in research with Oral Cancer Research & Coordinating Center (OCRCC), Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. His passion for teaching and research led him to join the Faculty of Dentistry, here at University Malaya and he has since become a valuable senior lecturer and clinical specialist in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Clinical Sciences. He has been the module head of various integrated modules such as oral malignancy & potentially malignant disorders, tumours and tumour-like lesions of the jaws and undergraduate discipline coordinator for oral medicine and oral pathology. He has been a member of curriculum review for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in oral pathology and oral medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. He is also a trainer of the OralDetect which is a training and calibration program for early detection of oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders. He has successfully conducted OralDetect program in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal and India training undergraduate students, general dentist, postgraduate students and various specialist in dentistry. He is an adjunct faculty member in Faculty of Dentistry, University of Puthisastra, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Tagore Dental College and Hospital, Sri Ramachandra University Dental College and Hospital and Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, India. An ardent researcher, he has 54 papers in indexed international peer reviewed journals, with a h-index of 11. He is involved in numerous research projects and has supervised PhD, Masters and graduate research students for the past 10 years. He was awarded the outstanding researcher in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at the 3rd Venus International Healthcare Awards 2020 (VIHA, 2020) by the Venus International Foundation. He also received the Sijil Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Certificate of Excellent Service) by University of Malaya in 2021. He is currently an active member of OCRCC, Malaysian Association for Orofacial Diseases and Asian Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. His research interest are oral cancer, oral potentially malignant disorders, oral pathology, oral medicine, immunohistochemistry, adjunct diagnostic tools, natural products and drug toxicity, oncoimmunology, homeobox genes and odontogenic lesions.
