Associate Professor Dr. Nor Shahila Mansor is a Malaysian scholar-translator whose work sits at the intersection of multilingualism, sociolinguistics, communication strategies and translation studies. Currently, she is serving as the Head of the Department of Asian and European Languages at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She possesses native fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the Spanish language. She has an abiding, passionate and almost obsessive interest in the Spanish language and linguistics, and has built a distinctive academic profile that bridges Spanish-Malay-English language scholarship with pressing global concerns such as sustainability and cross-cultural communication. She holds a PhD in Spanish Language and Linguistics from the University of Valladolid, Spain. Trained as a linguist and translator, Associate Professor Dr. Nor Shahila Mansor's research advances a central conviction: language is never neutral. Whether analysing parallel crime news reports across multilingual Malaysian media, interrogating cultural representation in beauty advertising between Malaysia and Spain, or examining localisation in geopolitical narratives, her work reveals how translation practices shape power, identity, and public trust. Her scholarship is marked by methodological rigour, often combining corpus analysis, qualitative inquiry, and digital tools, while remaining firmly grounded in real-world impact. Associate Professor Dr. Nor Shahila Mansor is equally recognised for her work in Spanish language promotion in Malaysia. Through innovative teaching modules, translation training, and intercultural communication courses, she has strengthened Spanish as a foreign language within the Malaysian context. Her publications and forthcoming books, including works on translation from a Malaysian perspective and on the rise of Spanish in Malaysia, reflect her long-term commitment to cultivating multilingual competence in Southeast Asia. Beyond academia, her research agenda aligns with the national and global frameworks, including sustainable development, gender equity, and inclusive access to information. Mohd Hafiz Jamaludin is a senior lecturer in the Department of Shariah and Law, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. He is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Egypt, in 2007, with a degree in Shariah Islamiah. In 2009, he pursued postgraduate studies in the Department of Shariah and Law, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, specializing in the Law of Fatwa. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2011. Subsequently, he received sponsorship from the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia under the Bumiputera Academic Training Scheme (SLAB) to pursue his doctoral studies in Shariah Law in 2012 at the same university. Throughout his doctoral studies, he had the opportunity to attend courses in Arabic language and Islamic Studies Methodology at the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, in 2013, and the Student Exchange Program at The Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture, Turkey, in 2014. He completed his doctoral studies in 2016. He has been involved in various research projects led by his supervisor, Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Hidayat Buang, in the fields of fatwa and Islamic finance. Furthermore, he led a research project in the field of Islamic finance funded by the Ministry of Education, University of Malaya, and INCEIF in 2017. He has published several articles in the fields of Shariah, fatwa, and Islamic finance in local and international journals, as well as presented at national and international conferences. He is the first of three siblings, is married to Norlaila Md Yusof and is blessed with four children.

Associate Professor Dr. Chen Yeng is an expert in cancer biomarker discovery, biosensor development, and natural therapeutics, with a multidisciplinary approach that bridges nanotechnology, molecular biology, and biomedicine. Her expertise is particularly evident in her work on innovative diagnostic technologies and personalized therapeutic solutions, targeting both cancer and infectious diseases.  Her research interests span several cutting-edge areas. One of her primary focuses is the identification and characterization of cancer biomarkers, particularly through novel approaches targeting at immunogenic host proteins. This line of research explores how immunogenic proteins’ interventions might modulate cancer risk, representing an innovative intersection of microbiology, proteomics, and oncology.  Dr. Chen is also deeply engaged in developing advanced diagnostic tools, including nanobiosensors with enhanced sensitivity and specificity. These devices, designed to detect critical biomarkers such as those associated with tuberculosis, blood clotting disorders, and oral cancer, are transformative for early disease detection. Her work in biosensors, utilizing materials like gold nanoparticles and zinc oxide nanolayers, has set new standards in diagnostic accuracy and reliability.  Another cornerstone of her research is the study of natural plant extracts for therapeutic applications, particularly in cancer treatment. She investigates the biochemical and pharmacological properties of these extracts, focusing on their mechanisms of action, such as inducing apoptosis, causing cell cycle arrest, and promoting mitochondrial dysfunction in cancer cells. Her exploration of natural products' roles in modulating microRNAs further highlights her innovative approach to cancer research.  Dr. Chen’s expertise also extends to the antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and genoprotective properties of herbal compounds, offering potential preventive and therapeutic solutions for chronic diseases. These studies underline her commitment to sustainable and natural approaches in healthcare.  Her contributions to genomics and proteomics, particularly in large-scale screening for biological markers, further demonstrate her role as a leader in translating complex biological data into meaningful clinical applications.
