Dr Pang Jee Ching is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling, Universiti Malaya. She earned her Ph.D. in Special Education from Universiti Malaya. Her research interests include Special Education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Supported Employment, and Action Research, reflecting her commitment to inclusive education and improving opportunities for learners with diverse needs. She has 27 years of experience working closely with individuals and families who are living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism, ADHD and Global Developmental Disorder. She maintains connections with the community by conducting workshops, support groups and individual consultations. Her work emphasizes bridging theory and practice through accessible learning resources and evidence-based strategies that empower educators and students alike. In her teaching, Dr. Pang adopts a student-centered and experiential approach, integrating real-world applications and reflective practices to foster critical thinking and professional competence among future educators. She actively contributes to professional communities, serving as Honorary Secretary of the National Association of Special Education (2026–2028) and Assistant Treasurer of the Malaysian Action Research Network (2023–2025). As life member of these organizations, she advocates for collaborative research and policy development to advance inclusive education in Malaysia.
show more »Dr. Nurzatil Sharleeza is a senior lecturer at Department of Science and Technology Studies, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor and Doctoral degrees in the field of Biotechnology from The University of Queensland, Australia. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at CEBAR UM for 2.5 years and then at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia as a project manager for the Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP). Although no longer managing the Project, Dr Nurzatil is still attached to Open Science as a member of MOSP Technical Committee (Policy), a member of UM Open Science Steering Committee and the UM Open Science Coordinator. Dr Nurzatil was a member of Global Young Academies Working Group on Open Science, and led the FAIR Data Stewardship Guidelines for Reproducibility in Biodiversity Research project. Currently, she is a member of International Data Policy Committee (IDPC) CODATA and project manager for OPEN-ASIA ERASMUS+ project. She recently published a book chapter Malaysia's Leadership in Open Science in ASEAN Countries. Dr Nurzatil's research interests include social and governance of emerging technology, food and farm systems and Responsible Research Innovation. Her recent publications include Building Public Trust and Acceptance Towards Spray-on RNAi Biopesticides: Lessons from Current Ethical, Legal and Social Discourses and Assessing the Benefits and Harms of RNAi-based Pesticides Through the Lens of Islamic Bioethics. In addition to this, Dr Nurzatil is a co-founder of Citizen Science Banana Hunter project. This project receives funding from Gates Foundation and it aims to train new Citizen Scientists to document wild banana occurences in Malaysia. Besides a researcher, Dr Nurzatil is an educator at Universiti Malaya. She is leading the Think-Prompt-Reflect project, which introduced AI-based continuous assessment through various assignments such as podcasts, policy briefs, and movie review and critiques for use in classes.
show more »Lik-Voon Kiew obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biopolymer Technology and Therapeutics from the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. His research interests and expertise are in the development of nano-sized complexes and particles for anticancer and organ-selective drug delivery and therapy. He also evaluates synthetic and bioactive compounds/materials for toxicity, physiology impact and disease treatment efficacy. He also assesses the acute and chronic impacts of intravenous administration of nano-drug-carriers and nanotherapeutics to the cardiovascular physiology of rats using radio-telemetry techniques. He has 22 years of research experience in nanomedicine and pharmacology, and has published over 65 research manuscripts and graduated 10 PhD students and 6 MSc students. He has also been appointed previously as the visiting Associate Professor to the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (2020) and visiting scientist to the Principe Felipe Research Centre, Valencia, Spain (2014). Kiew is currently a Professor and the Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia. He is also a Jointly-Appointed Professor of the College of Engneering Bioscience, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan. He has 15 years of experience as a pharmacologist and pharmacology educator, and has been appointed previously as the external examiner (Pharmacology) for the (i) Second Professional Bachelor of Dental Surgery Examination 2021/2022, International Medical University, Malaysia, (ii) Second Professional Examination 2020/2021, Bachelor of Dentistry, National University of Malaysia (UKM), (iii) Second Professional Examination 2019/2020, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Penang International Dental College-MASHA University, Malaysia, (iv) Pre-Clinical Professional Examination, Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, Quest International University Perak, Malaysia (2019); the internal examiner for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program and the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/UMMP) program, University of Malaya, Malaysia; a PhD thesis examiner for the National University of Singapore (2021) and the University of Nottingham Malaysia (2019), and an independent assessor for the Academic Promotion Exercise of Monash University Malaysia (2021-2022). He is also the Deputy head (Asia Pacific Region), Internationalization Unit, Faculty of Medicine; and the Protem Head, Centre of Excellence for Innovative Medical Devices, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. In the research community, Kiew serves as an International Committee of the Controlled Release Society (CRS, 2019 - 2022), a committee member for the (i) International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 229 / Work Group 3 (ISO/TC 229/WG 03) "Health, Safety and Environmental Aspects of Nanotechnologies", and (ii) Technical Committee TC15 - Nanotechnologies (Work Group 3 - Safety and Health), Department of Standards Malaysia, Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia (2019 – present), a member of The Ministry of Education Malaysia Research Fund Evaluation Committee (2019-2020), a committee member of the Malaysian Local Chapter of the Controlled Release Society (MyCRS), and a scholarship panellist for the Human Life Advancement Foundation (2016-2017, 2019-2020).
