Dr. Li Ran is Senior Lecturer at Institute of China Studies, Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her doctoral degree in Economics from Department of Economics, Universiti Malaya in 2014. Her specialization is in the transformation of China’s state enterprises, state enterprise system and China’s political-economic system, and her current areas of research include China’s global strategy and China-Malaysia economic relations. Her previous writings have appeared in a number of international journals such as China: An International Journal, Cities, International Journal of China Studies, and Journal of Contemporary Asia. Moreover, her doctoral thesis was published as a book by a reputable publisher Palgrave Macmillan. She also wrote for Sin Chew Daily as a column author regularly.
show more »Sr Dr. Nur Mardhiyah Aziz is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She obtained her BSc (Hons.) in Quantity Surveying in 2003, MSc in Facilities Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2008, and PhD from the University of Malaya in 2013, specialising in IT Management in the Construction Industry. She is a Professional Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and a Member of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM). She teaches courses including IT in Construction, Integrated Project, Research Methodology, and Introduction to the Construction Industry. Sr Dr. Nur Mardhiyah has published books and articles in reputable local and international journals, including Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus-indexed journals. She has secured several internal and external research grants with her collaborators and serves as a reviewer for multiple international journals. Her research interests include IT in construction, knowledge management, project management, and digitalisation in the built environment. She received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Excellence Service Award) in 2022. She has also won Gold and Silver awards at conferences, as well as a Best Presenter Award. In terms of academic leadership and service, she served as the Coordinator for the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Master of Project Management programme (2020–2023) and the Coordinator for the National-Level DIY Made Simple Competition (2020–2022). In 2021, she was appointed as the Faculty’s Communication and Media Relations Officer (2021–2024). She is actively involved with RISM as the Representative of the Quantity Surveying Division Sub-Committee for Session 2024/2025 and 2025/2026, and previously served on the Editorial Board of Journal of Project Management Practice (2021–2024). She has also contributed in various capacities for international conferences as an Organising Committee member, Secretary, and Session Chair. Through her academic, research, and professional contributions, Sr Dr. Nur Mardhiyah Aziz continues to support the advancement of quantity surveying education and the integration of digitalisation in the construction industry.
show more »Dr. Phang Kean Chang is a distinguished clinical scientist, academician, and bioethicist currently serving as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. With a multidisciplinary foundation comprising a PhD in Pathology, dual Master’s degrees in Health Research Ethics and Medical Sciences (Pathology), and a BSc in Biohealth Science, Dr. Phang has built an exceptional career at the intersection of molecular medicine, ethics, and leadership in academic research. He heads the Medical Research Ethics Unit (MREU) at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where he has led transformational improvements in ethical review systems, spearheaded training programmes for researchers and reviewers, and successfully hosted the 23rd FERCAP International Conference. As Coordinator of UMHealth under the Associate Vice Chancellor's Office, Dr. Phang has also played a key role in institutional strategic health initiatives with the five key health entities in the University. His research spans molecular diagnostics, digital pathology, cancer immunotherapy, and bioethics. He is actively involved in multiple national and international research projects, including private clinical trials and the Wellcome funded Global Health Bioethics Network (GHBN), a collaboration with the University of Oxford. His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications in pathology, oncology, and bioethics, and he has co-authored national and international policy papers, such as Malaysia’s Decentralised Clinical Trials (DCT) Guidance Document. Dr. Phang is a Chartered Scientist (UK Royal Society of Biology), a Senior Research Fellow with the GHBN, steering committee of Southeast Asia Bioethics Network, and a member of the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia. He has received multiple recognitions, including the Certificate of Excellent Service (UM, 2025), and fellowships from WHO, NIH (USA), and WCG IRB–New York University Langone Health. Renowned for his commitment to ethical leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Phang continues to influence health policy, research governance, and academic development both nationally and internationally.
