Dr. Abdul Halim Bin Ibrahim is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He possesses a robust interdisciplinary academic foundation, having completed all his higher education at Universiti Malaya. His qualifications include a PhD in Applied Sciences, a Master of Islamic Studies, and a Bachelor of Applied Science with Islamic Studies majoring in Biotechnology.

Throughout his tenure at UM, Dr. Abdul Halim has demonstrated significant commitment to academic administration including as the Coordinator for the Programme of Applied Science with Islamic Studies (2022–2024). His primary research expertise lies at the intersection of science and religion, specifically focusing on Islamic bioethics, the application of Maqasid al-Shariah, and the ethics of modern biotechnology. He authored the 2022 book, Bioetika Islam: Pendekatan Berasaskan Maqasid Syariah. His scholarly publications cover critical contemporary issues, including mitochondrial replacement therapy (tri-parent baby technology), environmental sustainability, and the application of benefit and harm concepts within Malaysian bioethical discourse. He has actively contributed to national scientific policy, involving as one of UM consultantation team for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to develop the "Garis Panduan Etika Bioteknologi di Malaysia" (Guidelines for Biotechnology Ethics in Malaysia) in 2025. He involves in several research projects locally and internationally exploring the synergy between Islam and bioethics. He also actively serves as a respected voice in his field, acting as an external assessor, internal examiner, and peer reviewer for numerous academic theses and international journals.
