Dr. Abdul Halim Bin Ibrahim, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, completed all his higher education at Universiti Malaya. His qualifications include a PhD in Applied Sciences, a Master of Islamic Studies, and a Bachelor of Applied Science with Islamic Studies majoring in Biotechnology. His primary research expertise lies at the intersection of science and religion, specifically focusing on Islamic bioethics. His scholarly publications cover critical contemporary issues, including mitochondrial replacement therapy (tri-parent baby technology), environmental sustainability, and the application of benefit and harm concepts within Malaysian bioethical discourse. He has involved as one of UM consultantation team for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to develop the Guidelines for Biotechnology Ethics in Malaysia in 2025. He involves in several research projects locally and internationally exploring the synergy between Islam and bioethics. He also actively serves as a respected voice in his field, acting as an external assessor, internal examiner, and peer reviewer for numerous academic theses and international journals, including the Science and Engineering Ethics journal.
