Fatin Nur Majdina Nordin is a Senior Lecturer in the Programme of Applied Science with Islamic Studies, Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. Her research centres on the integration of Islamic knowledge and health sciences to promote holistic health, well-being, and informed decision-making through interdisciplinary research.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science with Islamic Studies (Biohealth Science), an MPhil in oral health focusing on Salvadora persica (miswak), and a PhD in public understanding of science with a specialization in health and risk communication related to cosmetic ingredients. Her multidisciplinary training combines scientific inquiry, public health, and Islamic scholarship to address contemporary health and societal challenges.
Her research interests include health literacy, risk communication, consumer health, halal and sustainable lifestyles, behavioural sciences, and the ethical dimensions of emerging health issues from Islamic perspectives. She also develops community-based interventions and educational initiatives that strengthen women’s, youth, and family well-being through culturally relevant and evidence-informed approaches.
Her current work aims to advance interdisciplinary models that integrate Islamic values, scientific evidence, and community engagement to support holistic well-being, sustainable health practices, and resilient communities.
