Dr. Fatin Nur Majdina Nordin is a Senior Lecturer in the Programme of Applied Science with Islamic Studies, Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences at the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. Her scholarship focuses on integrating scientific knowledge with Islamic principles, particularly in the areas of health, hygiene, beauty, and halal science. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences with Islamic Studies majoring in Biohealth Science, and an MPhil in Medicine (Dentistry and Islamic Studies), where she investigated the use of Salvadora persica (miswak) in oral health. She later earned a PhD in Science, Technology, and Health, focusing on cosmetic safety and risk communication related to whitening product ingredients and labeling effectiveness. Her research interests encompass health and well-being, environmental sustainability literacy, mental hygiene and mental health literacy, halal science, behavioral science, scientific communication, and knowledge integration. Beyond academia, she engages in initiatives that advance women’s roles and promote women’s and youth empowerment within Islamic frameworks. Her interdisciplinary approach seeks to bridge the gap between science and faith, advancing holistic well-being and ethical scientific practices rooted in Islamic values.
