Sharifah Hayaati Syed Ismail is an Associate Professor at the Department of Siasah Syar'iyyah, Academy of Islamic Studies, the University of Malaya since 2007 and was appointed as an assistant lecturer at the university in 1992. She holds a First Class Honours for Bachelor of Sharia, University of Malaya (1992), Master of Comparative Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (1994) and PhD in Administration and Policy Studies, from the University of Bristol, England (1999). Her main research areas are Islamic governance, NGOs and halal governance, integrity and Women leadership. She produced more than 235 writings in books, journals, proceedings and newspapers. Her recent publications include the forthcoming Islam & Governance (Eds.), University Malaya Press (2022) Masyarakat Sivil Maya Di Malaysia: Cabaran & Penerusan (Eds.),UUM Press (2022) Islam & Dinamika Masyarakat Sivil Di Malaysia (Eds.),University Malaya Press (2021),Tadbir Urus Efektif , Politik & Kualiti Menurut Perspektif Islam & Kontemporari, University Malaya Press (2020), Manual Pelaksanaan Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti ISO 9000 Di Sektor Perkhidmatan: Kearah kecemerlangan & Inovasi. UPNM Press (2018). She has supervised more than 30 postgraduates at Masters and Doctoral levels since getting her PhD in 1999. She frequently chaired a PhD and master's board of committees and seminars besides being appointed as an external and internal examiner. She is a Chief Editor for the International Journal of Islam & Contemporary Affairs from 2019 to the present. She actively shared her thoughts in her discipline and therefore elected as a panel and government think-tank in several committees and projects including as a Taskforce for Shariah-based Governance Guidelines, Prime Minister Office 2017, blue-print for National Dakwah Plan, YADIM 2021 and Modul for Asnaf Development MAIWP, DBKL UMCARES 2020. She was also granted a fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies under the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU Titular Fellowship) in 2015 and received a Fulbright Visiting Specialist award in 2007. She received more than 10 research grants for various studies under local and international grants and industries. Including from Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM), Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) and Suruhanjaya Hak Asasi Manusia (SUHAKAM). |
