Dr. Raihana Abdul Wahab is a Senior Lecturer in the Islamic Astronomy Programme, Department of Fiqh-Usul and Applied Sciences, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. She holds a Bachelor of Shariah (Major in Islamic Astronomy) and a Ph.D. in Islamic Astronomy from Universiti Malaya. She specialises in Islamic Astronomy (Falak), with research interests in observational astronomy, crescent moon observation, prayer time determination, digital astronomical imaging, and the integration of astronomy with Islamic jurisprudence.

Dr. Raihana's research has made significant contributions to the advancement of Islamic astronomical standards and practices in Malaysia. She led the University of Malaya-funded project on Sky brightness and the Determination of Fajr Prayer Time, and subsequently served as Principal Investigator of a JAKIM-funded project to re-evaluate the Sun's altitude used in determining the beginning of Fajr. The findings of these studies provided the scientific basis for revising Malaysia's Fajr prayer time parameters, which were implemented nationwide between 2019 and 2020. Her research on the application of digital imaging techniques for young crescent moon observation also contributed to the revision of the JAKIM Guideline for Young Crescent Moon Observation in 2025.

Dr. Raihana has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and policy papers and is actively involved in research, community engagement, and professional training in Islamic astronomy. She currently serves as a member of the Perak State Falak Committee (2018–present), the Islamic Astronomy Expert Panel of JAKIM (2024–2027), and the National Astronomy Education Coordinator (NAEC) for Malaysia under the Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) (2024–2027).
