DR. KHOO WEE VIEN

Dr Khoo Wee Vien is a clinical lecturer and Developmental Paediatrics Fellow at Universiti Malaya. Her areas of interest are child population health, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties and long term developmental outcomes in children experiencing adversity. She has publications in a number of peer-reviewed journals and wrote a book chapter. Dr Khoo is very passionate in the area of child advocacy and believes in knowledge translation about child health to parents and caregivers. She also enjoys teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in the area of paediatrics. She is actively involved in planning, coordinating and examining at undergraduate and postgraduate theory and clinical examinations at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya.  Dr Khoo was a recipient of JPA scholarship for undergraduate medical studies in the United Kingdom and received the Hilda Margery Cuff Prize for best student in the Medical posting. She furthered her training in Master of Paediatrics and obtained her membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She is currently continuing her sub-specialty training in Developmental Paediatrics.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. WOO HAW JIUNN

Dr. Woo Haw Jiunn is a battery expert and academic leader specializing in next-generation advanced batteries and energy storage systems. He is currently an Associate Professor in Universiti Malaya (UM), having received his B.Sc. (First Class Honours), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Advanced Materials from UM. Prior to joining UM in 2014, Dr. Woo gained valuable experience in industry, teaching, and research through his work in the private sector and two private universities in Malaysia. As a recognized battery scientist, his research focuses on advancing energy materials and battery innovation to accelerate the global energy transition, with applications in electric vehicles, smart grids, and next-generation energy storage systems. His technical leadership spans electrode systems (sodium-ion batteries, lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, solar cells); solid-state electrolytes (polymer-based and ceramic) for all-solid-state batteries; and anode development targeting fast charging and long cycling stability, alongside battery testing, failure analysis, and spent battery regeneration, alongside plasma and radiation technologies. As a battery scientist with an established scholarly record, Dr. Woo has accumulated over 3,500 citations, an h-index of 29 (Google Scholar), and more than 80 research publications, as corresponding author in leading journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Energy Chemistry, and ACS Materials Letters. He has secured 22 research grants from the University of Malaya (RU grant), Malaysian government agencies (FRGS, PRGS), and international programs including the Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD) and SATU Joint Research Scheme (JRS), while successfully supervising 6 Ph.D. and 4 Master's graduates. Demonstrating his role as a battery leader committed to real-world impact, Dr. Woo actively collaborates with industry partners including IMP Sdn. Bhd. (UPS products and solutions) and EVE Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (a large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturer), strengthening the translation of research into practical battery applications. Owing to his expertise, he has served as a Visiting Professor to Peking University, Harbin Engineering University, Hebei University of Science & Technology, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Sharda University. Dr. Woo is the winner of many awards such as Best Flash-Talk Presenter (ICFMD2015), Diamond Award (I-Idea 2016), Gold Medals at Iiidjohor 2017, Indes 2017, Iriise 2018, ITEX2023, and a Silver Medal at MTE2024. He has delivered over 35 keynote, invited, and oral talks at international conferences and serves as a reviewer for more than 40 international journals, including Advanced Functional Materials, Small, ACS Energy Letters, Chemical Engineering Journal, Energy Storage Materials, and Nano-Micro Letters. Beyond research, Dr. Woo is an active academic leader, serving as Treasurer of the Institute of Physics Malaysia (2017–present), External Assessor for a Physics Academic Program at a private university, and organizing committee member for major international conferences including ICFMD (2013, 2015, 2017, 2022, 2024), Solar Asia 2013, APPC 2019, ICFPAM 2019, and AAPPS-DPP2024.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NG BOON KWEE

NG Boon Kwee obtained his PhD in Technological Innovation Management from Universiti Malaya in 2011. With over 20 years of university teaching experience, he is a dynamic educator specializing in technological innovation management, technology entrepreneurship, science policy, industrial S&T policy, and science diplomacy. His research is at the forefront of Policy and Management of Science and Technology, focusing on industrial science and technology policies, cluster innovation, innovation for inclusive development, grassroots innovation, and social innovation. His publications underscore the critical roles of social networks and embeddedness in national and regional innovation systems. Recognized for his expertise, Dr. NG has served as a consultant for esteemed international and national agencies, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), International Development Research Centre Canada (IDRC), Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Ministry of Economy, and the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). In 2019, he was a full-time seconded Experienced Researcher at Bocconi University and UNU-MERIT under the European Union's Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange programme. His accolades include the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Scholars Award (2019-2020), the Grassroots Science Advice Promotion Award (2023) from the International Network for Governmental Science Advice Asia Regional Chapter (INGSA-Asia), and Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affair (MOFA) Fellowship 2025. Currently, he is the Associate Editor of Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC) and serves on the Editorial Board of the Asian Journal of Technology Innovation (AJTI). He was also the Head of Department of Science and Technology Studies (2020-2025) and the steering committee member of National Collaborative Networks of Science Centres of Malaysia since 2023-2025.
