Dr. Muhamad Fazly Abdul Patah has been a distinguished member of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Malaya since 2012. Dr. Fazly obtained his BEng and PhD from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. His primary research focus is on the production of sustainable chemicals and energy alternatives, specifically through the conversion of low-value materials and waste into valuable products such as char/biochar, liquid fuels, and hydrogen-rich gases. Dr. Fazly’s contributions to the field of chemical engineering and sustainability are substantial. His pioneering work in thermochemical processing and waste upcycling has established him as a leading researcher in the development of sustainable energy solutions. His publications and media appearances reflect the significance and applicability of his research, which continues to influence both academic and industrial practices. Dr. Fazly is actively engaged in supervising Masters and PhD research students, contributing to advancements in engineering and environmental sustainability. He has been involved in over RM 5.0 million worth of research projects, leading multiple national and international initiatives. The projects span several key areas including: Thermochemical Reaction: Including torrefaction, pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, and liquefaction processes. Chemical Upcycling: Transforming plastics, biomass, rubber, and municipal wastes into higher-value products. Ozone Gas Applications: For sterilization and water treatment. Catalysis and Chemical Reactions: Optimization of chemical reactions and reactor design. Hydrodynamic Simulation: Utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for fluid flow simulation. Liquid Atomization/Spray: Both with and without reaction. Bioreactor Design: Development for mass production of medicinal mushrooms. Professor Dr Azlina Amir Abbas is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in adult reconstruction, with particular expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty, including complex primary and revision joint replacement surgery and the management of prosthetic joint infection. She obtained her undergraduate medical degree (MD) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and completed her Master of Orthopaedic Surgery at Universiti Malaya. She subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training in adult reconstruction at Universiti Malaya and Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital, South Korea, gaining further experience in complex arthroplasty and revision surgery. Professor Dr Azlina is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, including specialist and subspecialty training in orthopaedic surgery. She has contributed to curriculum development, accreditation-related activities, and the implementation of competency-based surgical training, particularly in the field of arthroplasty. In addition to her academic and clinical roles, she holds a key administrative appointment as Deputy Dean (Development and Infrastructure), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. Her responsibilities include oversight of faculty development and infrastructure planning, facilities and asset management, ICT-related coordination, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to support the Faculty’s academic, clinical, and research missions. Her research interests include clinical outcomes in hip and knee arthroplasty, prosthetic joint infection, revision joint replacement surgery, and quality improvement in orthopaedic care. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at national and international scientific meetings.

Datuk Professor Dr Awang Azman Awang Pawi  had served in the academia world for 26 years.  The journey of his academic crossing  the institutions such as  Faculty Of Applied and Creative Arts, Center For Language Studies (Now Faculty of Language and Communication Studies), Nusantara Chair, Institute of East Asian Studies ( Now Institute of Borneo Studies) University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) untill Guest Scholar at Leiden University, Netherlands. He has been involved in the Malay Studies for more than 20 years. He graduated in Malay Studies (UM) for his doctorate and Malay Letters for his Master of Arts (UKM) and  Bachelor of Arts Second Class Upper (UKM)(Malay Letters and minor in History). He has researched, written and produced books, chapters in books, refereed journal papers (national and international), mass media and social media. Currently, he is a columnist for Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur,  Sin Chew Daily, The Malaysian Insight and Sarawakvoice.com, a social media platform for Sarawak political affairs. His views in socioculture and political affairs appeared in Bloomberg, The South  China Morning Post (Hong Kong), Channel News Asia (Singapore), Nikkei Asian Review (Tokyo), Tempo (Jakarta). His interest in cross-discplinary field in Malay world culture, literature and heritage as well as Borneo ethnics and political culture.
