Dr. Nurzatil Sharleeza is a senior lecturer at Department of Science and Technology Studies, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor and Doctoral degrees in the field of Biotechnology from The University of Queensland, Australia. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at CEBAR UM for 2.5 years and then at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia as a project manager for the Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP). Although no longer managing the Project, Dr Nurzatil is still attached to Open Science as a member of MOSP Technical Committee (Policy), a member of UM Open Science Steering Committee and the UM Open Science Coordinator. Dr Nurzatil was a member of Global Young Academies Working Group on Open Science, and led the FAIR Data Stewardship Guidelines for Reproducibility in Biodiversity Research project. Currently, she is a member of International Data Policy Committee (IDPC) CODATA and project manager for OPEN-ASIA ERASMUS+ project. She recently published a book chapter Malaysia's Leadership in Open Science in ASEAN Countries. Dr Nurzatil's research interests include social and governance of emerging technology, food and farm systems and Responsible Research Innovation. Her recent publications include Building Public Trust and Acceptance Towards Spray-on RNAi Biopesticides: Lessons from Current Ethical, Legal and Social Discourses and Assessing the Benefits and Harms of RNAi-based Pesticides Through the Lens of Islamic Bioethics. In addition to this, Dr Nurzatil is a co-founder of Citizen Science Banana Hunter project. This project receives funding from Gates Foundation and it aims to train new Citizen Scientists to document wild banana occurences in Malaysia. Besides a researcher, Dr Nurzatil is an educator at Universiti Malaya. She is leading the Think-Prompt-Reflect project, which introduced AI-based continuous assessment through various assignments such as podcasts, policy briefs, and movie review and critiques for use in classes.
show more »Dr. Che Chong Chin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She holds a PhD in Nursing Science from Universiti Malaya, along with a Master of Nursing (Education) and a Bachelor of Nursing from Monash University. With more than 30 years of combined academic and clinical experience, she is recognized as a committed scholar, educator, and advocate for advancing nursing education, practice, and research. Her areas of expertise include obstetric nursing, community health nursing, geriatric nursing, and nursing education. Dr. Che’s pioneering work on the development of a time banking model has positioned her at the forefront of innovation in community health. Beyond this flagship initiative, she contributes to international efforts on environmental sustainability in healthcare through the Green-Care Toolkit and continues to advance psychosocial strategies for preventing healthcare-associated infections. A prolific researcher, she has published widely in WoS- and Scopus-indexed journals on caregiving, cancer survivorship, advance care planning, women’s health, and empowerment in vulnerable populations. Her article in the Journal of Advanced Nursing was recognized as one of the most highly cited in 2017. She also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Nursing Open, reviews for international journals, and is a life member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. As a dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Che has nurtured the growth of many postgraduate students and remains deeply engaged in community health. show more »Dr. Dorothy DeWitt is currently an Associate Researcher and a retired Associate Professor in the Curriculum and Instructional Technology Department, University Malaya. She is also an Adjunt Professor at Open University Malaysia. She is an alumnus of the Endeavour Executive Fellowship from the government of Australia. She was formerly with the Educational Technology Division (ETD), Ministry of Education, Malaysia, where she was involved in the Smart School Pilot Project in change management and managing the development of digital materials during the project. In addition, she was involved in the research, management and promotion of innovation in instruction. Her current interests are in instructional design, new pedagogies and technologies for knowledge management, collaborative mobile learning and problem solving. Her publications include academic articles in ISI-ranked publications and journals such as Journal of Educational Technology and Society (ETS), Eurasian Journal of Mathematics, Science and Educational Technology (EJMSET), and Educational Technology Research & Development (ETR&D), and many other Scopus-ranked publications. She has published books on technology-enhanced learning, blended learning, problem-solving for transformative learning, collaborative mobile learning and developmental research. She has been involved in research in collaborative and mobile learning since 2007, and is looking at designs of instructional systems that encourage problem-solving, communication and collaboration using cognitive tools and technologies for schools, higher education and training. As principal investigator, she has been awarded external grants (FRGS) as well as internal grants (RU grant and UMRG) in projects related to technology and problem-solving for instruction. She has also been involved as co-researcher in many other projects related to technology use. Her PhD thesis explored the possibility of collaborative learning using mobile technologies for a mobile learner to enable learning to occur anywhere and at any time; using the collaborative mLearning framework. She was appointed as consultant in projects related to curriculum acceptance, 21st century learning, and has been involved in training programs for technology pedagogical content knowledge at Academic Enhancement & Leadership Development Centre, University Malaya, as well as many workshops and training programs in 21st century learning, blended learning and online pedagogies, both locally and internationally. Recently, she has expanded her expertise to mixed realities in education. She has won awards in teaching innovations both at the national and international level. Her team won the Best Immersive Learning Showcase at iLRN2020 (International). She was awarded the University Malaya Excellence Award for Innovative E-Learning in 2018 and is also a reviewer and editorial board member of several ISI journals, and chief editor of TEMPAWAN, a Malaysian peer-reviewed research journal.
