ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. FADILLAH BT MANSOR

Dr Fadillah Mansor is an Associate Professor at the Department of Shariah and Management, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya (UM). She was a Head at the same department from October 2018 till April 2025. She joins UM since February 2002. Priorly, she was a lecturer cum Head, Department of Muamalat at Selangor International Islamic University (UIS) from 1999 till February 2002. She obtained her PhD (in Islamic finance) from the La Trobe University, Australia. Prior to that, she holds a Bachelor in Shariah (Honours) minor in economics in 1997 and a MBA specialized in Finance in 2001 from the UM as well. Her areas of expertise include Islamic finance, Islamic banking, Islamic investments and capital market, takaful and also Islamic management. She has written numerous articles in Islamic finance and her works have been published in International journals and proceedings. In her teaching tasks, she has taught several subjects in in her field encompass Islamic financial system, Islamic capital market, economics for muamalat, Islamic banking operations at undergraduate levels. Her research interest focuses on Islamic banking and finance including Islamic mutual fund investments, Islamic financial literacy and Islamic financial planning. She is also interested in research related to halal industrial management. Nationally, she is a member of Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM) from 2005 until 2016. She is also a panel assessor for Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), an agency that responsible for programme accreditations before the programme is listed under Malaysian Qualifications Register. As MQA assessor, she has experienced to evaluate more than 50 programmes offered by the IPTA and IPTS in Malaysia in the field of Islamic finance, muamalat, Islamic banking and finance, takaful and also Islamic management. Recently, she is appointed as an acreditation committee member of MQA for year 2024-2025. Besides, she serves as areviewer for refereed journal including International Journal of Emerging Markets;  International Journal of Economics and Management; Applied Economics incorporating Applied Financial Economics;  Journal of Business Economics and Management; and European Journal of Development Research and many more. She is actively engage with the Islamic banking and finance industry and being appointed as a member of Shariah Committee of Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad since 2021. Internationally, she has been listed in the 500 Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance for year 2022 and 2023 by Cambridge International Financial Advisory, UK.

DR. NUR AFIQAH BINTI MOHD SALLEH

Dr. Nur Afiqah's research examines institutional-related structures associated with engagement in healthcare, including HIV and Hepatitis C care for people who use drugs (PWUD). This epidemiological work is informed by sociological perspectives which frame the research questions within a wider social, economic and policy environment. Additionally, she has received training in Implementation Science at Yale University.  Being an active member of the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS and Infectious Diseases(CERiA), her current research activities have incorporated a community-based participiatory research (CBPR) component. Using this approach, she engages with local communities of PWUD and NGOs that serve these populations, whose collective views in the design and implementation of health programs are key in developing effective interventions. Additionally, she is actively involved in knowledge-transfer activities, promoting the use of evidence-based practices in real-life settings. She is also interested in drug policies, especially the impact of existing policies on youths and families.  Dr Nur Afiqah is a consultant for WHO, UNDP and International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC). She currently serves as the Vice President at the Malaysian AIDS Council.

PROF. DR. HESHAM MAHYOUB SARHAN AL-MEKHLAFI

Hesham Al-Mekhlafi has a PhD in public health (2008), master’s degrees in medical science (parasitology) (2004) and in applied statistics (2012) as well as a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratories (1997). Since early 2000s, he has been actively engaged in research on the molecular epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases including malaria, neglected tropical diseases, NTDs (such as soil-transmitted helminthiasis, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis and dengue fever), waterborne parasites and One Health. He joined the Department of Parasitology, University of Malaya (2009–2016; 2023–present), and served at Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, between 2016 and 2023. He has taught several courses in parasitology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methodology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has established passionate research teams that involved diligent postgraduate students, enthusiastic colleagues, and inspiring national and international collaborators. The research dedicated to helping vulnerable rural and aboriginal communities in Malaysia and other countries including Yemen, Nigeria and Libya against the NTDs, malaria and other infectious diseases. He has published more than 160 articles in high-impact ISI & Scopus indexed journals; with h-index of 46 (WoS). Hesham has been a member of several academic, scientific and administrative councils and committees. He also enjoys reviewing scientific manuscripts, research proposals, plans and strategies, theses and reports, etc. He is a member of the editorial boards of several renowned journals, and a regular reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals as well as a panel member of assessors for various national and international research grant schemes and postgraduate programs.
